Head size or weight

In general, for good accuracy, which do you think is the most critical, head size or weight? Head size range between say 4.50 and 4.52. and weight between maybe 8.36 to 8.56. Or is that even enough difference to be critical at say 25 yds? Probably depends on the individual gun but just in general if you had to pick one or the other , which is what you depend on most? Seems that I am spending more time sizing and weighing than doing my part of just shooting and learning the techniques that will make me better .And I try to keep my groups between 1/4" and 3/8" for me to be satisfied.

I’ve done It both ways and I came to the following conclusion if I adjust my hardware (rifle and scope) to shoot it best with a certain weight and size of pellet then I’ll try another batch of a slightly different weight and size of pellet and readjust everything I’ll get good results on both batches. So I’m just prepared to make necessary changes when I switch to different batches of pellets. The only pellets I don’t waste my time with are ones that are physically damaged.

Im a newbie to pcp air rifles, but have found that for "general good accuracy" like you want of 1/4 to 3/8 at 25 yards, you can probably get away with just inspecting the skirts and not shooting those messed up pellets. I have found in general my Regal and RedWolf, pellet weight changes my POI over head size for the level of accuracy you want. BUT if you want those great scores on paper, you will inspect, sort by head size and weight to get those high scores. IF PCP shooters are like most powder burners, those top shooters don't and wont share what it is they do, because they don't want to help the competition. But I do know of a national champion who shares ALL he knows, trying to promote the disciplines he shoots, is a mentor and will help others if they ask. When and IF you out shoot him, he will pat you on the back and say well done, he takes pride in making others great shooters. SOME will never be able to understand or accept the mentality that its not ALL about winning.

Well,,I ain't no expert, but to my ways of thinking and limited unprofessional experience it's like this. Weight makes the difference the further out you shoot, any inconsistancy in weight and/or velocity will affect poi(as in verticle string) Head size makes a difference to poi and general accurracy. With my FX Dream I tried 3 different H&N Field Target Trophy pellets, head size 5.3 / 5.4 / & 5.5. POI were different for all 3 and none were very accurate. Test range 25yds. The FX Dream shoots the more standard 5.1 / 5.2 head size much better. So,,In general, head size is more critical.
