Hawke frontier?

I have the 30sf 4-24 x 50 and the sf 5-25 x 50. Bought the 5-25 first and fell in love with it. Enough so that when I saw the 4-24 at Camera land for 125. off on a labor day sale I grabbed it. In both the glass is very clear. The turrets are outstanding. I do like the zero stop once it's set up. The illuminated rectile is supper. I think its 5 power settings. But every time you turn the know it goes off before you hit the next brighter one. I really like that. I only have the Aztec Emerald and a couple of lower end UTG's to compare them to but needless to say, they are my favorite. The 5-25 is on a Prophet and the 4-24 is on the Huben.

The Ares BTR is hands down the better scope. I wouldn't trust the turrets on the Hawke or mysterious wandering POI.

If you have tracking or POI issues you then send it on to Hawke for warranty and might get it sent right back to you stating nothing wrong with it and with in specs.

Then what can you do? Wouldn't even be able to sell it for a huge loss with a clear conscience.

This happened to not only me 3 times but others as well who aren't vocal.

If you insist on buying Hawke brand wait until it goes on sale at DVOR for significant price reduction close to half price sales or cheaper they have every now and then even with newer current models.

Example the Side winder 30 H5 models on sale at DVOR right now this very moment only 4 days left for the FFP 4-16x50 for $470 regular $899 and SFP 6-24x56 for $397 regular $719.

There were history of Frontiers at DVOR selling half price or cheaper.

Last Frontier sale only a few weeks ago wasn't nearly half off though just couple hundred off.

You see resellers cashing in their wise investments on this classifieds lately.

Can actually use them then still resell for profit.

Or if they actually paid full price oh no feel really sorry for them.

Wonder why they keep on popping up on sale at DVOR though. Other items with in the brand too.

Just like people buying Crosman Premier Hollow points for $12 to $15 a tin plus shipping. Either paid $6.29 locally to resell or actually got ripped off them selves who knows. Maybe they bought them for $29 off eBay and take a loss selling for half price.

Either way some people might even look pretty bad no matter how you look at it.

People who know how cheap they are or were on sale know better though.

The Gen 2 Ares BTR 4.5-27x was on sale cheapest I seen was $450 on Amazon.

I was informed the Gen 1 Ares 4.5-27x was $425 at Midway. Didn't personally see that one.

That's why you notice the Ares BTR 4.5-27x Gen 2 on the classifieds for $460 and $450 just recently.

Just don't buy the Argos or below that level. You will be disappointed in the image quality if you are used to the Hawke H5 glass.

Thanks for the replies guys.

@Batman2 I have only had good service from Hawke scopes and the suppliers here in South Africa.

@Mrmetals, my newest model sidewinder has zero play in the turrets. This Frontier has. Not only in the turret cap, which is understandable because it is held on by 3 grub screws, but also in the turret itself. Totally unacceptable imo on the top of the range Hawke!.

I have spoken to the distributor and will be returning it tomorrow for a swap out..
