Hawke Frontier 30 scopes

Hi All,

I'm thinking about getting a .22 Wildcat and will need to get a new scope for it, and want a bit of magnification for paper punching. I've been considering the Hawke 6.5-20 Sidewinder for sometime, then saw the Frontier 5-30X50. I'm not locked into Hawke, and I'm not crazy about spending that kind of cash - $799 - for a Frontier. I'm just curious if anyone has bought one and thinks it is worth the extra dough.

I have a Sidewinder on My Wildcat 0.25 and a Frontier on my Impact 0.25

Both are good and well made, but the Frontier is much nicer glass at range.

I might have to suck it up and pay for the better glass. I'm a photographer and know the difference... but also scottish

Can you tell me which Frontier you have BenGunn? the 15 or the 30 magnification?

Ya love mine but make sure you read up the 5-30 has diff parallax distance than the smaller one.... Could be a deal breaker! I needed to be able to shoot a bit closer than the larger one allows for focus wise.

Looks like the 5-30 has a minimum focus of 30 yards, which is a deal breaker. Bummer!

Take a look at the Athlon Argos 6-24x50. Beautiful glass, quality built, focus down to less than 10 yards, FFP & $369.00. I have mine on my FX Wildcat .25 & I love it!

Doouger - Does it have the MOA reticle? I ordered from Amazon and got the MIL reticle, but the MOA is much nicer, so I sent it back. I could not find where you could get it in MOA on Amazon.

I have 3 or 4. Mine has the illuminated dot and a couple hash marks. All of mine are the older models. I have had better glass, but if I could only own one scope I would choose it. Let me check mine out and see.
