Hawke Airmax 4-12*40

About two months ago I travelled for over seven hours to pickup my new HW77. It’s just killed the new UTG 3-9*40 scope i had hoped was to go on my new Diana 54.

Decided on a Hawke but I had read somewhere that the Airmax that I wanted wasn’t recommended for over 12 foot pound rifles. I looked up Hawke Optics in the USA and sent them an email. The reply came last night whilst I was asleep. Very helpfull and informative.

Thankyou Jes and Hawke Optics.

Bogey47 Hawke thanked me for my interest in one of their products and gave me a detailed rundown on their models and what each one was rated for. As I had asked about a particular scope and would it handle a rifle over 12 foot lbs I was provided with the formula for working out foot lbs if I was unsure on how to do it. I was also provided with a phone number and encouraged to call Jess anytime should I have anymore questions.

In my dealings with various companies over the years concerning their products there have only been a few that I would recommend based
on their replies and this company ticked all the boxes for me.

I just got off the phone from the gun shop that I ordered the Hawke Airmax, been waiting 8 working days and decided to call and enquire. Sorry sir we forgot to send it, will go in the mail tomorrow. Oh well at least I have the replacement Leapers 3-9*40 Scope that came from another shop in record time to replace the one my HW killed.

Wait something’s wrong, it won’t hold zero from go. I won’t buy another one ever. I sent an email to the Australian distributor and the shop from where the replacement came from thanking them for their excellent customer service but advising them that I won’t be wasting anymore money mailing broken scopes back and forth. Live and learn.

As for the HW she’s sitting patiently in the safe waiting for a Hawke to arrive. I hope this scope turns out ok.

"Windmill01"Can you let us know how it goes James. Mine is still in the shop a couple of hundred k’s away. The postal system in Aus isn’t the best if you want it fast you have to pay more.

Well Gary i just received a new to me TX 200 and decided to try the Air Max on it instead of my HW 80 and after about 100 shots yesterday its holding zero just great...
Thats crazy you have had such bad luck with that Leapers. I've had several of those through the years and had good luck with them holding up to even magnum guns.
Although the glass does not eveven compare to this Hawke.
Hope you have the same results I've had so far with this Air max. ..

"Windmill01"Thanks James, I must have ran over a black cat as the last three haven’t lasted. Have you bought the gold stock screws yet?
Gary
Nope not yet but now you have me thinking about it...
Have a guy I used to Gun Smith for in Florida that can gold plate them for me.
PA has them in stock so maybe I'll order a couple with my next pellet purchase and send them down. Sounds like a plan!!!!!
