Boys, I realize that a fellow coming on the forum announcing he wants a airgun gun to shoot 200 yards is the ultimate Nubie. But sometimes you run into old folks that have been doing this for years. I have 8 to 9 thousand posts on the TAG and old Yellow under the monikers of ROACHCREEK and UNREPENTENTSINNER. I inform you of this not to brag, but to get out of the “what do you want to do with this and it takes a lot to shoot 200 yards” syndrome.
You need to know that in 2013 I made 3 videos of busting 12 oz cola cans at 500-550 and 615 yards. Google Roachcreek utube 615 yard 12 oz cola can Haley 257 airgun. B t w, I did this with the last Haley 257 that Jack and Reba made, using a 4x14 VX3 Leupold with a Custom Holland MOA reticle. I used to post almost weekly, on the old Yellow sub moa groups at 300 yards. I put up with a ton of crap from BB gunners saying I was ruining the sport by making airguns more deadly by using cast bullets, one night it got to me, I gave up the ministry of cast bullet airguns, I sold all my airguns and the wife and I bummed around for 5 months in Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
These days most of my shooting is done at 10 yards due to a on duty assault that eventually took most of my vision. I taught myself how to shoot “wrong handed” after they removed my shooting eye. But I can still cast and shoot and will until the darkness overtakes me.
Now that we have all this on the table, I have a 257 Texan LSS with a Hawke 4-16 ffp scope and a couple molds for it. Now I want a Hot shooting current production FX, of a model to be determined by your valuable experience and advice, with the power to shoot my cast bullets. I have been casting for 45 years and for airguns for 8 years, I want to shoot either 25 or 30 Caliber at 200 yards when I get bored with the Texan 257. I have played with TJ’s and LW barrels and now want to see what that wonderful superior barrel and added plenum will do for me.
And of course being ignorant of the newer FX’s I need your advice on which platform to buy. And I really value your advice.
Respectfully,
Roachcreek
