Hatson 44-10 Qe long choked barrel

Does that mean that Hatsan uses the same .254" groove for .25 caliber that LW uses? That would explain why sizing might not be favorable in those barrels. Most .25 caliber are .250 groove or atleast that is standard groove size for the caliber. This makes sizing a .25 pellet head and skirt to .250" easy. If the groove is larger than the pellet head size, sizing would be of no real benefit. The key is head size. Thus, why people sort for specific head sizes.

Same with many .30 cal barrels. They are anywhere from .303"-.308" groove. This makes sizing .30 caliber 44gr jsb's worthless as the heads tend to be under those groove sizes. Hence the Sterne/Perro designed .30 TJ barrel that is .300" groove and designed fir the 44 jsb. I can size jsb's to head and skirt and see advantages. As far as I am aware, most if not all other .30 barrels have a groove larger than the head size of the 44 jsb. Again, that makes head sizing impossible and therefore it would be pointless.

I always stress the importance of slugging a barrel because of the above listed coupled with normal manufacturing tolerances.

Just got back from shooting my 44-10. Weighed up some pellets. Wanted to see if it made any difference at only 20 yards. This is what I ended up with.
Unsorted out of the box. jsb 33.95 gr

One thing I did find out is a need a lot more time under the trigger..... : )
My wife wanted to shoot the rifle....so I set her up and got her warmed up....Then asked her if she would like to have a competition... man, against the untrained little woman. This is what she did....

That was 9 shots at 25 yards....first time to shoot an air rifle. She gave me the big whooping.....gezzzz.... I was proud of her. She is a great pistol shot and now air guns.
And I did throw some paint on my Hatson stock. Looks better than stock.

Had a great day....got a good old a$$ whipping....And learned that I need a bunch of trigger time. PS....she whipped me twice....beginners luck...I think not.. : )

Ok guys and gals... I have a question.... Maybe this is the wrong thread for this but here goes. ...Guess i started this so it may be ok?
I have read that some when tuning they lighten up there hammer. I was thinking what this would do. Makes the hammer quicker.... since its lighter ,,,,So you would have to have a heaver spring to get the momentum up to punch the regulator hard enough to open it? That would give you a smaller window that the regulator can open and close? I'm not sure what all of this would do. Make a quicker blast of air. So would you open up the port to get that quick blast of air out quickly? I'm not sure I understand the thinking of this? Any Ideas?
Thanks Richard
