Hatsan Sortie Breech Seals

I've done extensive work on mine, and I'm not aware of a breech seal. There are barrel seals. And I recon there must be one inside the barrel.

Biggest problem I had with mine was the piston rod (long 3mm rod) kept bending and causing excess friction on both ends of it, mainly thru misaligning the piston at one end, and the rack link on the other.

I got some higher grade 3mm rod and a 3x.5mm die

I also highly polished the gear as there was excess friction there as well.

I run a moderator on mine, so it has to run EXTRA smooth

I'd have to take so many pictures, it's not funny, lol. I had to port out my 1/2" unf adapter and the base of my moderator (and the body of it) pretty extensively. And the baffles as well. I cut the recoil spring, I cut an oring seat into the gas piston rod guide so the back of the shroud is mostly sealed now. I drilled and tapped another hole in the piston so it has a free-floating guide rod on the other side as well as the rod that works the gears to cock the pellet probe back (makes less likely to turn in the shroud instead of traveling straight)

I polished the under side of the lower rack (long sliding thing with teeth on it) I took a cutting stone to the gear and reduced the size of all the teeth slightly. They were binding a bit on the upper rack (toothed metal bit bolted to the pellet probe) polished them, and the shaft the gear sits on. as well as all friction surfaces. Polished the probe, bold, and hammer. reduced trigger spring tension to a level that was still functional. Fashioned a brass hammer weight slightly larger than the steel hammer spring spacer to replace it. Fashioned several different delrin restrictors for the gas piston I have yet to test. I did have it running smoothly and quietly, but the rod kept bending. I'm still working on it before I run it again. The original rod was of poor quality steel

It's been ported more since. And I do have sound deadening material in when it's running.

The gas piston acts as a primary baffle, and the way I sealed the back of the shroud makes it a LOT quieter

Thanks for your information. I do not want to add a moderator just want to have the standard setup work. It appears to me that the gas piston assembly only closes the bolt. What controls the bolt travel. I assume it is a normal blowback operation. On my gun it appears that the bolt does not retract completely to allow the magazine to rotate. It fires in semiauto mode but the mag does not rotate.

There appears to be some question as to the existence of a breech seal. I have ordered one from Hatsan to see what it looks like.
