Hatsan Flash QE @ .22 with JSB 18.13 Domed Diabolos vs. Blackbird at 55 Yards

Today was an extremely rare day.

We have blackbirds around, but the vast majority of the time they relegate themselves to neighbors' areas. But today...well, I had 5 blackbirds on the nearby trees. As I said, this is extremely rare.

The first pair showed up this morning, both on the same tree. My best guess is that the shot distance was around 55 yards.

I lined up on one, and got a good shot. However, I'm not sure the blackbird was injured, much less dead; more like spanked, I think, as it flew off. Still, it was a good shot, although I should've aimed for either the neck or the head.

Lesson learned.

The next three came in this evening: one about 85 yards away at my 9 o'clock up high in the highest, nearby tree (I had actually hit another blackbird in that same spot some weeks back, and I think that was a kill as I could hear it hitting branches on its way down...lol); the second was at a similar position but at my 11 o'clock, and the last one similarly high, but closer and at my 12 o'clock. That was the one I wanted.

The head was mostly hidden by a part of the tree, but the neck was not. I aimed on the neck, and got a hit. This bird, like the other one I got some weeks back, sorta had a controlled fall through the trees. Not long thereafter I found it...very dead.

And that was on about pellet 16 post-fill.

Man, I absolutely love this Flash QE with these JSB 18.13 Domed pellets. Oh, and I shouldn't forget the Leapers UTG 30mm SWAT 3-12x44 AO Rifle Scope.

In my humble opinion, anyone looking for a relatively inexpensive foray into PCP, especially for the hunting purpose I've experienced, this Flash QE, with this UTG scope and the JSB Diabolo 18.13 Domed pellets, should get the job done.

(Fwiw; ymmv.)

I have this exact gun. It's my first PCP. I am having massive success with the JSB Hades. We .22 shooters are lucky we have them. I mostly hunting invasive green iguanas, and to say their skin is tough... Now I get that a couple of layers of feathers are also pretty tough, but I would suggest you try these. I zero at 25 yards, and I shoot lizards out of a tree 50-some yards away on the regular.

I honestly didn't do too much research before purchasing the Flash QE, but I guess I got lucky, because I love this damn gun.

I have both .22 & .25 cal Hatsan flashpup's..use the.22 for squirrel, rats, pesting, small game..the .25 cal is mod's for power with JSB'S 33.95 MK2 pellets..have used to take medium sized target out to 55 yards,(brain shot)..for myself I know that I won't try further distance, not at this power level...much closer distance for medium-sized game.my friend with an FX impact, just huff's and growls , when I asked how much did you spend on your rig?and he is shooting no better than me with my Hatsan flashpup..I'm not interested in shooting 100,200,300 yards with this airgun...keep myShooting distance short please ..just shooting around the homestead.. chicken killer's and barn bully's and back yard bandits...Hatsan flashpup. Work's for me...Michael,out
