Has shooting PCP guns made you a better powder burner shooter

No,

I recently shot some firearms, and was surprised to see my shooting has degraded from awhile back. I suspect the triggers and sights are so superior on my airguns, as well as the lack of recoil has allowed me to get more sloppy in my shooting, and firearms, esp handguns, don't tolerate sloppy hold, followthru, and less than perfect trigger control.

But its ok, since I mostly shoot airguns anyhow. But I suspect a good firearm shot has way less difficulty adapting to airguns than the other way.

Why limit your question to practice with PCP's? I shoot springer pistols and they've improved my powder burning pistol shooting 1,000%. I started at the wrong end of the spectrum with a .44 mag. I shot it poorly and never got excited enough about it to practice. Years later I bought a little HW70 break barrel spring pistol and, absent the rather stout recoil of the .44, was able to see the things I was doing wrong and focus on developing proper technique. Eventually I purchased a FWB65 which allowed me to fine tune my technique even further. Applying what I learned shooting my air pistols (which includes ignoring recoil) improved my powder burner accuracy beyond my expectations. Now, before I go to the pistol range, I'll spend a few evenings in the house shooting my FWB to refresh my mind and muscles on how it's done. Even with a heavy hitter like the .500 S&W, I can outshoot 95% of the guys at the range with whatever they bring.

Well dont want to step on any toes, but i feel springer is a better cross training tool. Pcp is just so dang easy, they allow the shooter to get away with things that other platforms wont. Spring and powder make me a better pcp shooter, but i feel the training advantages of pcp are smaller than the others. Just one idiots opinion, no need to swell up like a poision toad if yours differs.

Absolutely agree! You will never get most the PCP guys to admit this but a Springer is a much better platform to use to improve your modern weapon shooting. But someone like me that's been shooting since 1965 don't know Jack!!!!!

This site and I do enjoy it. Is about 85% PCP shooters we are in the minority 😀
