Has Anyone Tried the Modoc?

I had seen the Mac; Rick Eutsler mentioned it when he did the overview of the Modoc. One of the things I find intriguing about the Modoc is the use of an aluminum barrel which keeps the weight of the gun down to only 6.5 lbs despite its length (with its slim profile I can see a bullpup kit being a really simple and attractive mod). I've emailed Air-Ordnance to ask if extra "cartridges" can be purchased. Think I will follow this one with some interest.

Heard back from Matt Steigmeyer at Air-Ordnance; the "cartridges" can be purchased separately for $50 each. I think Rick Eutsler makes an interesting observation in stating that these portable air reservoirs have the potential to truly influence air gun designs of the future. I also find the application of aluminum to air gun barrel making fascinating. If it proves to be accurate and durable this could have a major influence on air gun designs as well. As noted I will be following this development with interest.

Thanks, 30cal, I have, and while it's cool looking (an air-powered Barrett :)), the sucker weighs 10 lbs before accessories. I am as interested in the innovation of the aluminum barrel as I am about the portable air reservoirs. I do find it fascinating that Air-Ordnance can produce and sell a portable 4500 psi air reservoir/valve assembly for almost half the price of an FX Impact magazine, though.

I think Eutsler is right; if someone can get get the price of the reservoirs even lower and then licenses the product we could see some really interesting air gun developments.
