Has anyone purchased sig's Virtus in .22

Has anyone actually purchased a Sig Sauer MCX Virtus PCP AIR RIFLE IN .22? 11 FT/LBS OF ENERGY, MAX velocity 700 fps. It was never stated out right that the virtus is semi auto but as I look at the companion Co2 rifles to the virtus I'd say it probably is unless they have a manual device that must be operated before the trigger can be pulled( for the Brits) . When the Sig ASP 20 made the IWA 2019 I was really keen to purchase one. They finally showed up one in the web site of one of our major air gun dealers. I ordered one, in advance as it was on sale less then $400.00. Deposit on credit card. For less then $400.00 I could get what I wanted, a synthetic stock and .22 caliber. After more then 6 months I gave up waiting, I had received several phone calls offering me an ASP 20 with walnut stock at a substantial price increase. I wanted the water proof synthetic stock. I canceled my order. Now I see the ASP 20 in the synthetic stock in .22 for about $550.00. I won't say what I think Sig had going on. The dealer here is reputable. But I'm wondering about the $349.99 PCP Virtus in .22. The public was made aware of it in Jan 2019, Sig formally announced it in April 2019 saying it would be available in late summer 2019. I just moved 8" of snow from 2 driveways in 18 degree F ( the high for today). Summer and fall are done. So am I seeing a pattern here? I wonder if Sig is only intending to supply europe with the 11 ft/lbs virtus. And after adding a different regulator ( new price) to provide say 850 fps and more then 20 ft/lbs with a 480 cc bottle similar to all the other PCP rifles to the U.S. . In the article Sig said the 13 cu in ( about 214cc) bottle will provide over 150 shots. Perhaps. My trust has fall even more. I still prefer FX. We have a distribution and warrantee warehouse on the East coast and numerous reliable FX retailers. If we could get an FX valveless semi- auto bull pup using the same interchangeable barrels from .177 to .357...... FX would have to build another manufacturing plant just to try and meet demand. You caught me daydreaming again and I almost had a new job in the plant too. Safe, accurate shooting and hunting.

I was researching that elusive Sig about 2 weeks ago and ran across a video, with some Sig official saying by the end of the year. By Christmas if you wanted a few extra sales. But who knows, they said Summer too.

A FX valveless semi-auto bullpup with interchangeable calibers, would cost what? $2500? And there is how much demand for $2500 air guns? I doubt that extra factory will be needed.

I have a Sig Virtus psp..been using it for about two weeks...it has pros and cons

Pros

1) 1/2 28 flash suppressor that removes for a silencer..with a the silencer installed, my meter shows it at 65 db...most of that is the click from the hammer, so very quiet

2) a dual magazine clamp can be modified to work on the mags to get a quick 60 shots

3) trigger is heavy, but semi auto works well

4) accuracy at 10-15 yards is excellent

Cons

1) heavy on the front end...silencer does not help, but balance is still front loaded

2) range is disappointing...I hit targets easily at 40 yards with my Crosman Marader pcp...the Virtus pellet literally falls to the ground at 20-25 yards..even with the scope adjusted full up, and 3 mil dots a hit 30 yards it shear luck

3) the full length top rail means a good scope needs 1" mounts for the bell housing to clear the rail...shorter top rail and an included bottom rail would have been better. ..but if you are just using a red dot, it will not affect you

3)The grey and black coloring gives it a toy like appearance

4) had to make my own speed loader, as sig does not offer one and loading is very slow otherwise

5) shoulder stock needed to be adjustable

6) the MPX actually has better range..when I queried Sig about this, their response was "the .22 rounds are heavier which shortens the Virtus range"...something I would think they would have taken into effect during design

I hope Sig also addressed the trigger mechanism problems. 3 MCX between friends and I and all broke after a few months of use. The trigger would jam up on one of them and the other one's trigger stopped working??? I took both mine back since I bought one at Big5 and one at Sportsmans warehouse. Sure am glad I didn't order one and have to pay shipping, etc.

I’ve also had to trash my MCX but my MPX still works after a couple years but it is still unreliable, meaning if I’m using it I have to carry a rod for when it jams and it WILL jam.

Here’s why to not spend a dollar on a Sig air rifle.Matter of fact not a penny. You can go on YouTube,Facebook, etc;pick your social media, see videos and read stories even Sig posting their own sometimes about their airguns right.Of all the negative comments and complaints, and videos about their crappy airguns problems, they never speak up and defend their product or respond to a customer on how they will improve or anything.See for yourself.I mean complete silence.Ive seen Umarex respond to customers on YouTube.Ive seen ATN respond to customers on YouTube.Pyramyd Airgun depot,AOA,you name it. All but Sig Sauer. They will continue this horrible practice as long as they can count on us to jump on the latest new airgun regardless of how poopty it is.Hell you can research all the problems people are having with the Virtus already, and bet you won’t find any kind of response or reassurance from Sig.

That’s my rant but save yourself money, frustration and a later rant like this.

And the thing is if all these Co's with unreliable products would spend a few extra pennies per dollar on higher grade parts, and a few more weeks addressing all the problems, they could fix the shortcomings, and sell a ton more of them. It just doesn't make sense to me at all.

I've spent close to 4500 bucks on BB and pellet semi auto's and only my $50 Tanfoglio Gold custom Co2 pistol, and my "Steyr LP5 - 20 years for that one", have lasted, that's pretty damn sad! Some of them only lasted minutes and some a few days!

they didn’t fix anything. I have a gen 2 mcx pcp I’m 22. Same trigger issues, can’t hold a zero and I literally just hit a juvenile groundhog from near point blank range from behind concealment right in its ear on a fully charged tank. I was using hollow point hunting pellet and made the hit from less than 3ft away. I watched it hit pretty much the weakest point of any vertebrate creature’s skull and saw it bounce off and the groundhog hid for less than a minute. It didn’t even tickle it. I managed to get one more shot off and impacted right underneath it’s chin right over it’s trachea and it deflected. That was the second of two shots on an otherwise full tank. Sig air rifles are a joke. I was in the army for 10 years and own an ar 15. I chose this air rifle because the A.R. 15 platform is very familiar to me and finding an air rifle that feels as natural as my M4 did in the army is something I never thought I would find. In my state, air rifles or pistols are our only legal pest control options in residential areas. I couldn’t be more disappointed. I just got mine in the second week of June 2022.

I also have a cheap C02 AR-15 copy which is a BB gun that sits on a shelf in the garage. It lasted a year before it broke and this was likewise a trigger problem.

Last year I traded into a 22 cal Steyr ProX pcp semi auto pellet rifle/29 fpe and except for its weight I'm very happy with it but these things are super expensive and doubt I would have ever payed the full amount to get into one. So at this point I'm kinda done with other semi airguns.

It's not AR15-ish but Benjamin has a semi auto Marauder now which might work out for you,

It's not 2023 and I just purchased the air virtus PCP airgun yesterday and I absolutely love it. Grabbed it for $285, grabbed hollows and domed .22 pellets for it. I also grabbed a handstop and a nice eotech red dot. I absolutely love this rifle
