Hard case for Steyr 100 advice please....

Since the butt/cheek piece can be removed I would like to buy a shorter hard case for air travel.

What exact brand and model number do you recommend?

I sure would like to see a picture of your Steyr 110 and open case. I'll betcha you all have some really clever ways of positioning the separate pieces and accommodating a side wheel securely.

Do any smaller cases still come with castors? I would prefer this at airports even with a shortened case.

Thanks guys.

Hi

I have a Pelican rifle case. Even though the Steyr Connect, butt comes off, you still need the extra space for your scope. I looked in to this when I bought my Steyr LG 110 FT connect. You can try to buy a shorter case, but I found that you still need the width of the case, since I have a Jon Harris rail and high scope mounts, and with the big Nikko on it you still need the width of the Pelican Rifle case.

I went to my local foam shop, and they cut the foam exactely where I marked the rifle on the foam. I bought the high density foam (not polystyrene). My rifle lies deep in the foam to protect it. I even bought a layer that fits over the top, so that I have foam on all the sides.

I hope this helps, I would like to take a picture, but my gun is in the shop for some fine tuning.

just got a new case from PLANO 108191 double scoped rifle case pluck foam ,,really like the case has wheels heavy duty 6 latches 2 locks and keys and places to put more locks if you want now i have one for all of my RAW rifles $ 112 included tax ,there a nice case and jPLANO just introduced a new model but theese are great, walmart has them for $114 really think theese are perfect .weather proof and great for travel ,now im not a huge fan of pluck foam it does great protecting my rifles im looking into a company that you give them a design and measurement of what you want say the rifle with scope and maybe a place for a bipod and tins of pellets or range finder and the take a piece of hard foam and laser cut to your specs i will put that piece in my PLANO if the price permits and man it will be awesome good luck PAT
