Happy Veterans Day . . . the PCP version!

Happy Early Veterans Day, everyone!

To think that I avoided these rifles for years because I thought they were too plain and/or just butt ugly. I might have gone a little overboard hoarding these in the last couple of months but the Taipan Veteran is currently my favorite shooter!

Yup just a little bit overboard. I would hate to see what it would look like if you were seriously addicted. ;^) Great bunch of guns you have there.

Yes, my affliction was much worse in years past - especially when I first started in this hobby. I've gone through many dozens of nice, higher end air rifles ranging from Air Arms to Daystates, FX and almost all of the Edguns during that time. Believe it or not, I've cut down on my buying in the last couple of years because I've tried most everything that I've wanted to. I'd always heard great things about the Taipans in general but thought they were so boring until recently when the laminate stocks came out. Since getting the first one a few months ago, I've been very pleasantly surprised about their build quality and performance. I think they're easily the best bang for the buck in a higher end PCP.

In your opinion what is there best .25 model, thanks

I don't know that I can answer that question for you as everyone's needs are different. Of the three 0.25's I have, the long is the easiest for me to shoot pellet on pellet . . . but I'm 5'7" and prefer shorter rifles so will likely end up keeping the shorty and standard in 0.25. You get more shots with the long but it's also heavier. If I take my time, the standard and shorty can be as accurate as the long but the long just seems easier to shoot consistently.

How about the performance of the compact taipan? i am interested in one

Ranin - the Compact is really nice. Accuracy wise, all three of the 0.25's I have (Compact, Standard and Long) are very comparable. For whatever reason, I've found the Long easiest to shoot consistently of the three - but I won't be keeping it because I prefer the shorter versions. The Compact is the lightest and most maneuverable but also gets the fewest shots per fill (obviously). If you're interested in one, I would recommend it without hesitation . . . it's a really nice rifle and a great value at this price point.
