Handy WildCat Mod

Adjusting the reg and hammer spring is a tedious job. Especially taking the stock off to do both. So to make things a little easier, I made this little mod to the stock. It took about 15 seconds.

Now I can adjust the spring on the fly. I can also see the mark I put on the nut to tell if it is moving around or not.
One note, when you grind the stock, inside it is charcoal gray, not dark like the rest of the stock. So I just colored it in with a black felt tip marker. Works like a charm.

Thanks BeemanR7. I thought the same thing.

jking, I used the sanding wheel in my dremel tool. It is just a round, rough sandpaper. And it sanded very smoothly. You gotta watch out though. Even with the tool on speed 1, it removes a lot of material in just a couple of seconds. So I used a very light touch. Don't want a repeat of cutting out the slot for my side gauge (reg pressure).

What if you made an adjuster nut that had a shoulder that butted against the receiver and had a threaded rod that passed through the nut pushing a washer pushing the hammer spring. Then the hammer spring could be adjusted at will. I've seen this mod on other guns. Do you think it would be worth the trouble, because when the perfect tune is achieved you will lock it down and leave it. sylvan

bigbobbybeef, Turning the HS in or out increases/decreases the amount of hammer spring pre-load. In most cases, adjusting the spring clockwise will increase the fps. But only to a point. Go too far and the fps comes down again.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. I appreciate it.

And just FYI, I called about a replacement stock. Can you believe $267 ???? Yikes. I could get a walnut stock made for less than that.

Great idea! You could turn it down a bit and shoot lighter pellets for plinking or turn it up for the heavies for hunting
