Hammerli 850 M2

I've got the first one in .177; bought it used. It's a tremendously good shooter, with or without a scope. Chrony showed 625-675 fps. I'm making kills (tree rats) at 25 yards--with a head shot. I bought the CO2 converter from 88 gr to 12 gr carts. I load one at a time (one empty + one full) and shoot 50-60 shots. Very reliable until the last five shots or so. I shoot 7.0 gr to 8.64 gr pellets with it. I will not shoot my 10.3 gr.

After looking over the new 2.0, the only difference that I SEE is the new forearm stock. Anyone know what other upgrades are there?

I need to rescope it.

I love bulk fill co2 for one. So that’s one thing to look at options and cost of converting. For airgun snobbery id say the 850 hands down. But if that’s what I was in the market for I see no reason you couldn’t start with the lower cost option and if you’re disappointed with accuracy maybe you can get a replacement barrel? I plan on getting one within a year or two for my nephew. I had a 1077 for my daughter a while back. It was a ton of fun but it certainly felt cheap and wasn’t that accurate. I’d shoot rat targets at like 15 yards and we’d blast pellets all over the thing. Both options you mentioned have better accuracy reports from users I’ve heard. If I can find out how to bulk fill the Umarex I’ll probably go that route just because of cost.

How would this compare to the Umarex Fusion 2? Worth the extra $170?

I bought mine used--so it was less than the Fusion. I would expect the Fusion to be very similar and comparable. I'm having repeatedly good experience with my Umarex guns. Reviews on the Fusion (older model) showed some parts that needed immediate upgrading for better performance. I haven't seen reviews for the newer model. What I do know: my Hammerli 850 shoots 7.9-8.64 gr pellets at 625-655 FPS and is capable of killing a tree rat, consistently, out to 25 yards. I've gotten one at 27 yards. Head shots. I converted mine to shoot 12 gr carts (Umarex conversion tube) in lieu of the 88 gr. I load one full + one empty and shoot just 50-60 shots at a time. The 230ish shots I got from the 88 gr carts just took too long to process. I fear the seals going bad.

So, the money difference: perhaps the extra is worth it; but that's probably just personal opinion.

I have a Hammerli 850, in .22cal Bought it before the latest M2 model came out. They are Good co2 guns, accurate, they have thick walled German Barrels fairly light weight. Really a Very good gun, I will Not get rid of mine I have the 2x 12gram adaptor and 6 extra mags for my Hammerli. I also have a Crosman 1077, the 1077 needs to be Modified to get better accuracy out of it, as the barrel is quite loose inside the barrel shroud, you POI would be all over the place for a Out of the box 1077, as the barrel is able to Move around inside the barrel shroud, this is a common problem with the 1077s accuracy being all over the place, but is easily fixed for cheap, by using a piece of Foam or wrapping electrical tape around the barrel's muzzle end, Until the barrel to front sights slop/movement is Eliminated, then slipping on the front sight, You are trying to remove all the slack/slop/movement between the front sights ID and the Barrels OD, once this is done the 1077 is quite a Bit more accurate. I bought my 1077 to Modify, for when I get bored. I also put a oring on the valves detent so that I could get Maximum FPS out of it so it would be Much more co2 efficient, and reduce co2 leaks. I was also looking at making the Magazine a Manual Index to the next pellet, that way I could unlink the Trigger to the Magazine, this would make the Trigger much better/lighter and shorter pull length, as the trigger would NOT need to index the Magazine to the next pellet any more, that would be done under the Magazine manually. my Fortitude gen2 had the same sloppy barrel to shroud Movement, a Lot of Crosman/Benjamin guns have this sloppy barrel to shroud movement that can be fixed to provide a Much more accurate rifle.
