Hammer, yea or nay? I kind of want another FX, instead

So I paid for a Hammer a long time ago at PA and now that they're carrying FX, I could see changing my hold to something else. While I know the Hammer won't get nearly the use, I think what has me up in arms is whether or not it will truly be reliable which is I'm sure why they're taking time before releasing it. Even if some kinks are ironed out, I have to wonder if it might still need a year or so before they have it truly up to par.

Thoughts on their reliability come March?

So we all really only have speculation to offer, however as a personal policy I strive to never preorder anything. I'm sure Umarex is under a lot of pressure, especially now, to make this proposed release date. That suggests, at bare minimum, manufacturing will be pressed to deliver quantities fast. And even on perfect designs, manufacturing is optimized continuously over time virtually everywhere.

My recommendation to you, knowing nothing about you or your income or spending habits or anything, would say keep your powder dry. Just get your money refunded, don't spend it on another gun now, wait for the Hammers to come out. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that they're not only great, but so wildly successful they start offering other calibers as well. Hopes and expectations are two different things though, which is why I'd say just keep your money and wait and see rather than burning it now on another gun. It is easy to burn money, you can always spend it later never fear, but getting more seems to me to be the hard part. :p

I hope that was helpful. I don't know how much more help I can be. I don't have anything against FX by any stretch, but I don't have any more information on the Hammer than you or anyone else.

I think your reliability concerns about the Hammer hit the nail right on the head. They added a safety for every year they promised to release it. 3 now if I'm not mistaken. I have my reservations and think they've done more harm than good to the industry doing business the way they do. How many guns from other manufacturers got put on the back burner in anticipation of the Hammers release. I say get a refund, buy the FX or maybe a Texan from Airforce. Then you can wait to see if the Hammer ever pans out.

Inherently there is always risk involved in buying into a new design/concept right off the bat...it is in my utmost opinion that it is very rare the first revision of anything is done well enough to stand the test of time, at least not anymore...products are more commonly rushed than well thought out...with that said, they've had more than adequate enough time to beta test the heck out of the Hammer, if its released with overwhelming issues than I'd be shocked and disappointed.

I'd much prefer a .257/.357 version myself, although neither are necessary, and certainly a .50 cal isn't (for me).
