Had three awesome 100 yd five shot groups with FX Boss this morning.

Nice shooting Fuss!! Glad that Boss has worked out so well for you.

I’m still weighing my options as I try to get back into airguns, spending a lot less money than last time. It definitely helps when we get to see these threads showing guys shooting well with rifles that aren’t the most expensive.

You went out at a good time today, because it got hot quickly!!

Wow, let an old man lay down for a nice summer nap and wake up to all the great comments. Thanks,....I can't keep up guys! LOL

Mike, nice shooting, doubt I could do that without a rear bag?

Gerry, I've got two FX guns now. My older .177 FX Logun Solo with LW barrel is FT worthy. So I'm finally starting to be an FX fanboy after all these years!

Jimmy, I remember you having a 500, you had some nice RAW's as well didn't you?

Bubbler, I don't hunt, but it's taken .30 cal for me to finally shoot a MOA at 100 mark, so I have it just for the fun factor at 50 yds and beyond.

Stoti, video coming man....not on that outing but eventually.....one day? But I will show the bad with the good. These were the first 3 groups leading up to the NUAH targets to help get my bearings for holdover. 1 3/8" was the worst

2manyAirGunz, thanks for the offer man.

Thanks C.B.Daddy

Russ, good to see you back on here. Hope to see you back in the airgun business soon.

A little off topic but you guys that are shooting groups at 100 are you sorting pellets? I shot some today and I had one of those two group things going. Three touching and the one would drop about four inches low next one back in the group followed by another low one. OR clean the barrel? Or both. There was some wind too. Several variables hard to know which is the cause. Maybe all of them

i have determined that I can’t shoot groups when the conditions are anything less then ideal.

I may try sorting pellets by weight.

Mine were straight from the tin this morning. And I'm just like you, can't group for shinola unless wind conditions are ideal.

Crazy as it sounds, I sorted some .22 pellets for my Cricket pup on a less than ideal day. They were the 25 grain RD Jsb's which it normally shoots well. Not on that particular day? The 18.1 grain unsorted shot tighter for some reason? Long range shooting is crazy, you never know what you're going to run into?

It’s a journey not a destination isn’t it. I NEVER thought I’d have any interest in a 30 cal but it’s turned into almost the only gun I shoot. I find it just a little louder then the other guns but for my use no problem. It’s the only gun I’ve found dependable beyond 75 yards.

I’m interested in what some of the fellows are doing with slugs but I’m also somewhat intimidated by all that’s involved. I’d probably jump in if I had a mentor to guide me. PLUS it would involve a significant investment . RECOIL on the 30? I notice nothing as far as recoil.

Who knows where this will end? I’m just glad I can play with my toys.

Yes, funny you mentioned recoil? My .25 Cricket Carbine had much more noticeable recoil than this Boss? I don't feel a thing. It's almost as if.....is this thing working? But then I see it printing paper at 100 yds like a Boss!

I've ordered my first slugs for the .25 Eddy. We'll see where that takes me?

Good work Fuss, with a good gun. Here's some targets I've shot at 100 with my HM1000x RAW .25. They are 10 shots each. Previously, I had a .30 cal RAW. It shot well, but with the recoil and droopy trajectory, I sold it in favor of the .25.

Paul, how “droopy” is droopy to you? Just curious if sighted in at 50 yards on both, how much less droopy in inches is the .25 compared to the .30? It seems like maybe 2 inches, 11 to 13? Those both look pretty droopy to me. ;). I guess if you’re shooting pellets at 150 yards it may be slightly more of a difference, like 38 to 46 inches... Also, I think the recoil depends on the gun. My .25 PT Cricket is a lot more jumpy at 63 FPE than my .30 FX Bobcat is at 80 FPE...

Nice shooting Fuss! Now let’s see what that bad boy can do at 150+

You really want to make me work! LOL I'd have to do some serious shrub clearing on that lane to get her out that far. Maybe wait till 2025 when the timber company harvest their pines and clear it for me? LOL

Wish I was just a little closer to you. I’d go there and make that lane for you, in August to boot!

Here's one at 75

1564348791_14421300595d3e11774cff20.13494405_75 yd target.jpg

I just recently bought a RAW HM1000X LRT in .25. The first couple of times out with it I had a blast, pellet on pellet accuracy but my velocity was between 835-875fps (ES of 40fps)and way lower with the heavier slugs. I got some information from here on AGN and talked to a tech at RAW which gave me some tuning options which helped a lot. I adjusted the regulator last night (only 1/4 turn) took me to just shy of 150BAR. I took it out this morning to test accuracy and check velocity. When I got to the ranch and started shooting it was averaging 908-919fps. with the MKII's. I backed off the hammer spring until my velocity averaged 900fps with the 33,95 MKII's and my ES was only 6fps... 899-905fps. I shot the MKII's, H&N Barracudas as well as 2 VK slugs(32.80 & 34gr) and 2 Nielsen slugs(33.5 & 36.2gr) and all of them shot lights out, except the Barracuda 27.47gr. @ 975fps which was just too fast! No adjusting necessary when switching between slugs and JSB's. Just crazy! I'm so used to having to fine tune my gun to every different slug when shooting my FX Impact. The simplicity, accuracy and ability to shoot slugs or the JSB's is so refreshing with this RAW. Anyway, the point is... I shot 3/8"-1/2" groups at 50yds with the JSB's and 1"-1.5" groups at 100yds with two different slugs and no adjustments! The other slugs shot well too, just not quite as well as the best two slugs(Nielsen 36.2gr. and VK 34gr). I'm so glad I bought this gun, just sweet!

Fuss, MOA at 100+ yds is awesome, period! It doesn't matter what caliber it is. And, 1/2 MOA at 100yds is just plain old phenomenal!!! That's some fine shooting my man!

Stoti, That's awesome to be able to go from Pellets to slugs like that with your Raw and not have to make adjustments. Sounds like the perfect set up.

I managed another 3/4" group tonight before dark ;-) Shot this at 106 yds off the back porch. This thing is making it too easy for me? Just gotta get the right holdover and see if I can get them all in the kz. That six yards added another whole stadia to the holdover. This morning at 100 yds, I was using 7 stadia hold over with a 55yd zero. Tonight at 106 yds, I tried 8.5 holdover, so need to cut it back to 8 stadia and that should put me in the sweet spot!

Here's a pic I googled of the reticle. 10 stadia or 20 MOA and I'll be at the bottom of the reticle! LOL Might need to rezero at 75yds?

My other two Sightrons are the Hector Specials, but since I don't shoot FT anymore I just sent one of them to Sightron to have it reparallaxed for 100 yd shooting. It was set up for focus between 9 and 55 yds for FT , had it set up for 10 yds to 300 yds now. Gonna keep the one on my Thomas as is.

Here's the reticle on those two.

I just bought a Vortex Golden Eagle tonight to go on my RAW and I'll put my Athlon Ares on my Impact. I looked at the Sightron SIII and the Hawke scopes with high magnificaton but I really don't like any of the Hawke scopes and I paid less for the Vortex than I would have for the Sightron SIII. I got such a great deal, a really great deal, like $600 off retail, on this brand new Golden Eagle that I couldn't pass it up. Phenomenal ED glass, 15-60x52mm, awesome turrets, and what I think is the best reticle ever. I like FFP scopes but it's not a big deal to me, especially since I'll be shooting it most often at 40x where a FFP reticle would be huge! I can't wait to put it on my RAW and I'll have a long range killer!!! Have a great week buddy! Stoti

Stoti

That Golden Eagle is one nice scope. Congrats on the find.

I went with the Sightrons because they were set up to focus for 10 to 55 yds for Field Target. And adding a 6 inch scope wheel gave a huge space between yardage tick marks. Made range finding on the FT course much much easier.

Now that I don't shoot FT I hardly ever shoot anything inside 20 or 25 yds so that Vortex would be nice for that.

Enjoy man, post some groups when ya can!
