Had three awesome 100 yd five shot groups with FX Boss this morning.

I managed to shoot three 100 yd targets this morning before it got hot and things started sweating over from the humidity. Calm to no wind between 7:00 & 8:00 am this July 28th 2019. Was nice and cool when I started, but by 8:00 the scope lens started to sweat over and I packed everything in.

Shooting my .30 FX Boss (44.75 gr JSB) about 870 fps. Target set at just a hair over 100 yds measured with a 100 yd sports tape. Bench rested with front bipod and rear bag. Scoped with 10-50x60 Sightron SIII set on 30 power. Pellets shot straight from the tin unsorted.

First NUAH target the 5 shot group measured 0.57 inches CC , but wasn't inside the one inch kill zone.

Second group I was trying my best to get all five shots inside the one inch kill zone. Had 4 shots inside the kz, but one shot went left and opened the group to 1.049" CC

Third group I had 4 nicely placed shots inside the kz and wouldn't you know it I dropped the 5th shot low and opened it up to 1.06 inches center to center. Those first 4 shots were easily covered by a dime.

Here's pics of the gun and the range and the targets. This Boss is the first rifle I've had that was able to shoot MOA with at 100 yds

I foolishly sold my FX Boss -- the bullpup bug bit me hard. I still have my FX Royale 500 .25 cal. and will never part with it. Both those are the most accurate and consistent of the nearly 20 airguns that I've owned; at every distance from 15 to 100 yards. Smooth cocking lever and very quiet. I miss my "Boss". My only gripe about these full-sized rifles is the length -- 45 inches, if memory serves.

Great shooting, BTW!

Spent part of the day yesterday with Centercut, Socaloldman (Mike & Nick) & Ricardo S. shooting on BEAUTIFUL property in S.E. San Diego property. Used my Boss 90 percent of the time because I'm so blown away by the power & ACCURACY of that gun. That kind of grouping from the Boss platform doesn't surprise me one bit. Got it used about 6 months back & it quickly became my "go to" gun for varmint eradication. Yesterday was the first time I used it in target & competition (friendly) shooting. Man, I am so impressed with this gun & SO glad I bought it. Again, not surprised at that kind of group @ 100 yds. Enjoy & cherish it. Nice shooting Fuss! The Royale & Boss platform IMHO is the best FX has ever made & wonder why they chose to get so "complicated" with their newer guns.

Come on man, I'll trade yo my .25 Edgun R5 and some cash for your FX 500!!!!!! I don't blame ya brother. You better hang on to it! LOL

I'm wanting an FX 500 bad now, but scared it won't hold up to this Boss?

Great shooting Fuss. I got this Boss from a gent in Louisiana. Drove about 9 hours round trip to get her. It’s still the most accurate gun I’ve shot at 100 yards. Man, you’re flirting with a 1/2” or under group at 100 brother!! I haven’t managed that.

Derrick, I can't thank you enough for letting me buy this Boss from you. Now find me an FX 500 to match it and I'll be good to go for years to come.

That dang Boss is right up there on my favorite list. A solid favorite right behind my Thomas at a fourth of the price! Costs more to shoot than the Thomas, but Lovin' it just the same

Impressive shooting. The FX boss is one I’d like to have. I’ve got a RAW in 30 so I don’t need one but of the FX guns it’s one of my favorites. I know the impact is the current hot ticket but the I’d be more included to buy a rifle then a bull pup.

Bubbler, I thought I wanted an Impact until I got this Boss. I'm plenty satisfied and I'm hard to please!!!!! LOL

Haven't had to opportunity to own a RAW yet ;-)

Yep Fuss, you can’t buy a more accurate gun at any price than the .30 Boss/Bobcat. The .30 ST barrel is truly an amazing barrel, and the new STX in any flavor can’t beat it. It may tie the ST with lots and lots of tuning and modifications. But with the ST Boss//Bobcat they come shooting MOA or better from the factory, no mods required. Set it at 870 to 890 FPS and shoot. Done. Another great thing about those guns is they are just so “easy” to shoot. Hard to explain, but once you have one you know what I mean...

I know we’re talking 100 yards, but below are eight five shot groups at 52 yards with the .30 Bobcat. No cherry picking, just 41 shots in a row from one 250 bar fill, shooting with cheapo Green Blob Atlas clone bipod and no rear rest except my hand. This is what I mean when I say “easy” to shoot. And at 100 yards in calm conditions I am shocked when I don’t get MOA groups, and start thinking something is wrong with the gun... ;)

Bought a new Royale 500 from UA as my first FX gun. It'll hold its own against the Boss. You won't be disappointed if you find one. Just use the JSB's it was designed around. The .30's cut through wind & brush better but BOTH are deadly accurate, simple & RELIABLE. I want to be the "poster child" for either one of em. That & "early onset senility ". What were we talking about?

Looks like the stars and moon aligned during that session Jim, great shooting. I think the .30cal is consistently a little more accurate than the 25, keyword consistently. I've switched over to 30cal on my Crown and cant see going back to .25. I play the switcheroo game with the Impact though. Never shot a Boss but I did have a R500 that was awesome.

Some of the guys are showing impacts out to EXTREME distances using slugs and I’ll admit I find that fascinating BUT from reading the forum this doesn’t happen straight out of the box and I don’t honestly have any need to shoot an air rifle beyond 75 yards. So a boss , or royal is for me more practical simpler and probably more dependable. The difference between the FX and the RAW as I understand ( and having shot an FX once) the RAW is big heavy and solidly built. The FX is lighter and probably some what more convenient to use. I think it would be real nice to have one of each and then a fellow would have to decide. I’ll likely have an FX eventually.

I too am pretty sold on the 30 for hunting but slugs are another chapter and I’ll have to see if I even want to consider going that direction. As stated I don’t shoot beyond 75 so to this point I have step much into the slug pond

You got it on video, right Fuss? Everybody knows it doesn’t mean squat and is very suspicious unless it’s been recorded on video! You know better man.

Bahahahahaa... just joking buddy, I wanted to see if I could get anybody to bite on this fine Sunday morning. Great shooting! It’s pretty obvious that you’re loving your new Boss. That’s great. It’s so much easier to shoot well when you love your gun! May be partially psychological but who cares. If you can make it shoot and love it, that’s all that matters. Those are phenomenal groups at 100yds! It takes a good gun, but more importantly, a great shooter to keep those groups under 1 MOA past 100yds! Holy smokes, that one group was closer to 1/2 MOA! Nice man, really awesome shooting!!!

If ever I decide to part with this FX Royale 500, you'll be the first person I notify. I believe the 500 will hold its own against the Boss in ideal conditions. Also, I just looked over at my gun rack and there stands an FX Wildcat MK2 .30 cal. that I believe will match the Boss and the Royale 500 in accuracy out to 75-80 yards.
