Gx-e-5k2 compressor

Well I got tired of waiting and I wanted something quiet to keep in the house so I bought this a few weeks ago. So far I really like it and I’ll try to update this thread as I go along.

I’ve had a few compressors over the last two years, but this one is by far my favorite. It sounds like a sewing machine running so I actually can keep it in the house. It’s got its own coolant tank built in so you don’t have to deal with a bucket and I haven’t had any over heating issues. I’m in the middle of setting up a 100 yard range at my house for me and some friends so we will need air and this compressor is built heavy so I’m sure it will be up to the task.

I’ve only had one issue which was a damaged wheel during shipping. I got it off of amazon and the seller sent me a new wheel ASAP and also wanted to know what I thought would prevent it.

So far I’ve only been shooting my 22cal streamline and it will fill from 120bar to 230bAr in about 40 seconds. Also the tube didn’t get warm.

Neat looking compressor! At that price point I am curious -- what made you decide to go with it versus some of the more "traditional" offerings around a similar price point?

Congrats at the home range, I got a 75 yard one here and love it. Nice to have unlimited air for tons of fun with friends and family!

I went with it over the omega just because of availability at the time and I wanted something quiet in the house. I have a Yong hen style and it was pretty loud, the wife didn’t like the noise and neither did the pets.

I am hoping to put in a 100yard range, and may expand it to 200yards depending on how many people come and shoot. This is the view out of my shop window where my indoor bench will be.

Very nice setup, I see you are a country dweller as well :)

Here's my range, at the very far end, near the white post sign, is my spinning target I made (hobby welder) out of parts I had.

Here's the far-ends spinning target by the white post. Where it is positioned now is 55 yards, on the other side of the road against the fence line makes it 75 yards.

Is it similar to this one? Maybe an economy version?

Someone just posted an inquiry about it.

Just received couple of scopes if anybody wants to use my 5% code from Optics Planet...

OH Looks different sorry my bad!

This one looks more like and omega, the Benjamin recharge looks like a yoeng Heng inside. I needed some thing quiet to keep in my house. The wife likes the new one so it’s a win win! My yoeng Heng style is quite a bit louder and she hated listening to it.

Cranky1, I read some of the maintenance information on your compressor that talked about turning the "grease screw" only one third turn every 10 or so hours, then use food grade grease to refill the reservoir when it finally empties. I'm curious to hear how that all works out going forward. Not being too mechanically inclined I'm not familiar with this kind of setup.

This setup has been used by another company for several years. So I’m hoping it will hold up, I also got the extended warranty from amazon.

I purchased a GX-E-5K2 PCP Air Compressor Pump 4500PSI Max.50Mpa 110V 1200W, Auto-Stop as did Cranky1. I was faced with the problem of compressor availability as a lot of others. I didn't want to have to pre-order one and not know when I would receive it. I found this one on ebay in stock. t was more than I was looking to spend but had a lot of features that I felt were worth the extra money ($2K with the offer I made w/free shipping). I like filling my scuba tank to just over 300 bar to account for the drop in pressure when cool.I hated to always be working up against the rupture disk as I had to replace a couple on my YH compressor. This compressor is rated at 500 bar max and can run continuously for 10 hours. It has 2 cylinders and 4 stages and can fill my 6.8L tank from 0 to 4500 psi in 45 minutes. I liked that it used food grade grease instead of oil and it uses a gear reducer instead of a belt to drive the pump. it has a water separator and has auto shut off and is very quiet. The auto shut off has has a second setting that can be set just slightly higher as a safety. I like that it is 110 volt, has its own built in cooling system and castors to wheel it around (as it weighs in just over 100 lbs.). It sounds like a sewing machine running and it is quite enough where I could listen to it for hours if I had to.

When I got the compressor, with the outlet plugged, I set the shut off to 400 bar and it got to it easily giving me confidence it could get to the rated 500 bar max. (not that I would ever need that but I always prefer have something that is over rated rather than always running it at it's max)

I have added a desiccant filter, auto drain valve and a digital pressure gage. So far it has been operating well but I don't have a lot of hours on it yet. I do like that the pump runs at low RPM which means that it has lots of torque. That means that I can start the pump under pressure. If I decide I want to raise the pressure in my tank slightly more I don't have to drain down the system (as the filters take some time to fill to pressure) I can just reset the pressure shut off setting and restart the compressor. At near 300 bar it starts the same (without straining) as at 0 psi. There is no mention in the manual about not starting under pressure.
