GX CS2 Compressor Water Filter Question

I just ordered one of these small AC/DC compressors. I wanted to see what, if anything, do I need in the way of a water filter to keep it out of my guns? The external canisters appear to be everywhere from $15 to $200. They are 2" long to 12" long. They also have different filter material from cigarrette butts to large fiber as well as different desicants both loose and cargridge.

What do I need for doing an airgun like HW100 or Huntsman Regal every evening? No bottles and don't want to screw up the compressor with putting pressure etc on it. Keep in mind this is a little over $300 compressor. Links appreciated.

That one has a vapor trap built into the unit and a small cotton fiber canister on the fill hose.

I have run mine for over a year and I get very little water in the cotton filter. The built in vapor trap works dang good. Note, I am in the desert southwest and 30 humidity is high for me. If your input air is closer to saturation point, you may want to add a larger filter.

For filter. U can't get any better than this for the price. This filter used 3 different media vs the cotton on older model.

I see they make some nice 2 1/2 inch

Thanks, that is reassuring. I kind of assumed the CS3 had some filtration but wasn't sure about the CS2. The specs are a tad on the "light" side. I am not in the desert but for a 3 to 5 minute or so fill I can do it on my gun workbench in the spare room for the warmer months. I will have to tell the wife it is gun doctor’s orders etc.

The issue I have with that size, is the little pump has to fill the whole thing to 3000 psi, almost Doubling the air capacity of the gun. so you are subjecting the pump to twice the duty cycle.

For higher volume fills, the added filtration is worthy. For direct gun fills, that size is overkill. IMHO.

I felt the same thing.

From what the above poster says I should be OK using it indoors and keeping an eye on the filters in the compressor. I didn't even know it had any. I thought you had to get the larger model.

Oh snap! I am confusing the CS2 and CS3... I have the CS3. Sorry, my bad.

I don't know for certain about the CS2.

Its OK thanks for the info. What is strange is CS2 description says “Paintball/Scuba Tank Compressor Pump with Extra Moisture-Oil Separator”

CS3 description says “Built-in Water-Oil Separator Filter”

Kind of confusing. Seller said no on the CS2 so I replied back and asked him to explain his big bold lettered description on CS2.

The reviewers say the CS3 is just more sheet metal, auto shutoff and a coiler for the cables.

Actually after talking to the seller it turns out the CS3 has an internal filter. The CS2 has an external filter. The external filter comes with the CS2 from Amazon so you don't have to buy one. It comes with a big bag of filters and I would not want an external filter any larger than the one that comes with it. The seller appears to be representing the manufacturer and is surprisingly articulate for a Chinese company rep. He even sent me pictures of the filter and how to attach it etc. He assured me they tested it extensively with the CS2 to not add too much load but still work etc. Less than 24 hour responses to my questions.
