grs crown

If you have very manly large Norwegian hand then it’s amazing. I have smaller than average hand so the grip is a bit big which isn’t a big deal but even with the trigger all the way back the reach is a bit far for my trigger finger. The angle, shape and over all design is simply awesome, just wish they made a slimmer version for my girly hands.

qball is spot on. It is comfortable for me, but I wear size 2XL gloves.

"The angle, shape and over all design is simply awesome" - YES. It is the most comfortable and immediately steady on-the-bench of any stock I have used.

"looks very nice for thumbs up" - YES. Pretty much thumbs up exclusively as you can't feasibly wrap your hand around the GRS grip like you can a sporter grip.

For folks who have asked me how I like them, I always recommend to them to try one before buying. It is not for everyone due to its size.

Yes, they are beautiful and without being overly gaudy. I'm glad they didn't make them in the bumblebee laminate, or some other bright color. They definitely are a case where form follows function as they are incredibly effective to me - at least on the bench top.

In my mind they are definitely not as multi-use as the standard Crown stocks, which I think are very good looking as well. For example I wouldn't take a GRS Crown on a walk and stalk, but then again I can't shoot all that well off hand anyway. The Crown's synthetic stock is excellent for that purpose. But I don't hunt with Crowns, so for my bench use the majority of my Crowns now wear the GRS stocks.

But they are not for everyone, even if you have large enough hands. I have had several guests try them out on my backyard range, and in the end they preferred the standard stock. Maybe it was the flexibility of being able to shoot thumb up, or grip with the thumb through the thumb hole? I didn't question them why they preferred the standard stock, it was just a comment that they made after shooting both styles.

And that is another reason I encourage folks to at least handle a GRS stocked gun before they buy one, if at all possible. In most cases my GRS Crowns came from the factory in that configuration. But one gun wears a GRS stock which I purchased off the AGN Classifieds after its first owner didn't like how it felt/shot. Of course if you don't like it, the 'used' market is pretty strong for the GRS stocks.

I bought a rimfire rifle (Anschutz) with a GRS stock for informal BR shooting. Other than looks, IMO they are worthless. I just couldn't get into a comfortable position with the pistol grip and the gun wouldn't set well in the rear bag. It always wanted to cant. It's your money. There are other options such as MDT chassis, Boyd's stocks, or just the standard one that the gun comes with.
