GroPro Eaglevision combo is up and working - Thanks Hajimoto!!

This is going to be a long post, but I apologize. I hope you still read it.

I dabbled in the scope cam market last year with the Tacatacam, because of the good reviews and how much easier it was said to be over the GoPro. I didn't care for it, as I couldn't get it to match up well with my vision (I guess). When I looked through the scope, I couldn't get the video to look that good. I read a lot of reviews that people had at the time for the GoPro and many liked it, but many said similar things that I found with the Tactacam, so I just gave up and said it wasn't for me.

After some more playing around/reading reviews the past several months and seeing the success of the Firefly, I started asking some some of the guys around here about their thoughts, and they were more than happy to answer questions and help out. Once I expressed my frustrations with my journey and told Hajimoto my worries and asked if there were actual combos that really would work, not matter how bad my eyes were. He took me under his wing, held my hand, and made it apparent that the GoPro would definitely work and could be adjusted to match up to what I was seeing through the scope.

Haj has posted many things on here and posted many videos on the topic, but he still took the time to lay everything out for me, and send me links to everything. Haj is a class act!!

First, he said the GoPro would be his suggestion. He laid out the comparisons and explained why the 7 Black would be his suggestion. He laid out the attachment options with Eaglevision and Sideshot being the main two to choose from. He made the point that you have to swap out the lens and said the Eaglevision 1.8 12mm lens was the best option. He forwarded links to his prior posts and videos to help me understand why he chose these, how to install them, and how to set up the camera. Now I have a GoPro Hero 7 Black, Sideshot, and the very nice Eaglevision 1.8 12mm lens.

Fast forward to today. I took time to find the best deals I could on everything, and finally started setting up the camera and lens last week. I used the iPhone app to get a bigger view of the camera view to dial in the lens. It was still hard to tell if it was working. I used an iPad to help as well, still wasn't sure I had it perfect. So, today, in 30* weather, I had to go test this baby out. IT WORKS!!! The reticle looks as clear through the final footage as what I see looking through the scope and the image is clear too. Maybe not as perfect as what I see through the scope but pretty darn close. I was also worried as I shoot through a lane in the woods, but still lots of light. I do have the camera ISO way down, so I could still brighten it up some. Also, Saltlake58 agreed to make some spacers for me to help with the eye relief and block out the light, so those should arrive soon.

I just need to find some software to flip the image. Find how to play in slowmo. Find how I need to post videos online. I know it didn't happen without evidence, so bear with me, and I'll get some posted.

Big, HUGE Thanks to Hajimoto for all his help, videos, and posts across AGN. Below are some of those.

I want to start this response by saying that I am so happy to read and see that you are close to the summit.

Because I too made this very climb so many years ago and found that at the time there was little to no data out there to assist in that effort. I decided that I was going to share as much as I could so that others did not have to invest the same hundreds of hours in R&D to achieve the same or better end result.

Now here we are years later and find that myself still receiving emails, messages, phone calls, IMs, DMs, and even letters from folks asking some of the same questions as it relates to the pieces and parts. Of all of the questions, the two questions that are most common are, which is the better capture device and lens consideration.

Because there are so many ways that folks can deviate off the intended path and ultimately end up at the wrong destination, I decided to add the Eaglevision line including the lens on my website. I found that most people just did not want to wait for the UK shipping. So now, I've got em to share with folks right here in the states and I am confident that when I recommend via a link, they will get there they should be.

I am also amassing all the fixtures required for a turn-key solution to those that want to simply cut to the front of the line. Just follow me to be sure you are in the know when that happens.

In closing, I am truly humbled by your generous and kind words @smok3y, they are much appreciated but not expected, and thank you for that.

I want to drop in and thank Haj as well as he was the one who had helped me when I first started out using the side-shot mount with my own GoPro 7 black. He too had recommended which lens to buy for me at the time. Without his videos and guidance, my Youtube channel would not have happened two years ago. The scope cam recording device is a wonderful tool to have as you can share and "take" your viewers along to the hunt. So thank you sincerely Haj and your continuation to help others to enjoy the hobby we have.

You can follow his Webpage or follow him on YouTube to find out more when he is able to put it all together in the turn key package he mentions.

He currently sells the Eagle Vision lens, and he sells the Eagle Vision mounting system, if you want it instead of a Side Shot. You would then just buy the GoPro from your favorite store.

Well, I finally got a video recorded and converted. I was able to record with the system above, but had to convert the video to a non-H.265 format. I still need to keep reviewing video editing tools. I filmed in 1920x1080 and 240 FPS, but it wouldn't convert at those same frames. Oh well. I'll continue to play and figure things out. I did try to add some slomo at the end...

Do NOT get excited. I was shooting and just taking some clips, so there is no fancy intro or conversation.

I was just trying to video some shooting for some local fun paper target shooting we do. This is at 50 yards with my Saber Crown with 18gr JSB.
