Griffin Slugs anyone

HI , I got some griffin slugs in .22 , 25 and 30 cal , to test , I also bought some NSA 22 and 25 cal ones , I usually shoot what I make but I read so much here on NSA . I decided to test all of these and put them up again my slugs I cast ,

First impressions , the weights of the Griffins are spot on I also weighed the NSA and both were spot on , Very good , I decided to clean all slugs and Lube as I see some shavings in some slugs , but the finish is well on both slugs , some hollow bases and hollow points are extremely hollow / I am very interested on what these slugs can do as far as penetration and wound cavity , The slugs I make and use as my go to slugs have a BC of ..09 to abut ..210 and are very hard hitting I make all my slugs now 95%lead and 5% tin and I am happy with them . I cast slugs from 28 gr to 134 gr in various calibers ,

I will test BHN on all of them and compare to mine , My guess is the griffins are a dull so it must be pure lead , the NSA looked a bit more silver I will test tomorrow ,and shoot all in next few days

LOU

here is some of what I got I got 22 cal from 23 to 38 gr , I got some 25 cal from 26.8 to 46 gr and I got 30 cal 55 gr

I have Griffin and NSA slugs (with their new pricing of 5 cents a shot!) coming to Peru on Tuesday.

So, who do you think has a range day planned for Tuesday...? 🤣

That I will be sitting on 5 inches of old cow dung will not be much of a distraction as I'm having my very first slug testing session...!

I'll be on a cow farm that invited me to do some pesting, and my shooting lane is a narrow alley between two walls, nicely protected from the wind.... I'm very thankful for that opportunity! 😊

Now I'm very much hoping that my 30FPE Skyhawk .22 will find a slug that it likes.

It's getting 9 slugs to choose from...!!! C'mon, there's got to be ONE! 😄

—> I guess I really don't cherish having to go through the hassle and expense of upping the power a lot — with a new new plenum & amp.

With Griffin slugs offering weights of 15, 16, and 17gr, and NSA offering 17gr and 20gr, I think something HAS to work, even for a mid-powered gun like mine!!

AND NO MATTER WHAT:

Slugs I have to have — because long-range airgun shooting is the "second level of airgun shooting."

(Second level, as in the second level down the dark black hole of the airgunning hobby. Where return to the surface of "normal" people is twice as unlikely.) 💀

This is awesome.....What we do for the love of the accuracy!! Hahahahaha!! 😂

Also, shooting the 24gr hollow #2 at 1015FPS were just about the exact same POI, these pellets have shot great at 920FPS (the slowest I've shot them) and great at 1020FPS (the fastest I've shot them). The y also expand to .40cal!!! Thought the small hollow point wouldn't expand well but they absolutely do. They are the longest and hence the best BC of any slugs I've tried.

@ Jeff,

a Kral Puncher Breaker shooting 27 grainers at 960fps? That's 55FPE... 😲

You must have raised your Kral P/B on steroids...! 😄

For those interested in the different slugs available (.22cal): Here is an overview table (AVS I need to update yet).

Yeah you bet! I got a tune from Troy a few years ago but it would only get the RD Monsters going up to 860FPS so I decided to take it apart and remove some "extra" material and add a Kral Nemisis barrel that's a few inches longer. Now it's shooting RD Monsters at 1075FPS for 65FPE!! I showed him pictures of the internals and I think he's working on a valve that will do this for production but if anyone knows Troy, he can be tough to hear from... haha. usually in the shop.

The Kral's are awesome guns,
