Got to the ranch and had some company!

I got to the ranch at about 8:30 this morning, after it warmed up a bit. I had more company than I’ve ever had and couldn’t get them to leave my shooting lane. One shot finally got them to clear out!

bubblerboy and CC too, this one is for you guys! Lol In the picture below I was shooting my Impact MKII with the slug liner and 33.95gr. JSB MKII’s at 955fps. This is 7 shots at 75yds with a pretty good breeze.

And here’s a ten shot group at 75yds with the same set up! Some say that slugs are more accurate than pellets inside 100yds, Not Me! My thumbnail is a tad over 3/4”.

Looks like you have a rough life out there. Nice company to have sometimes.

The slugs and pellets are both about equal all the way out to a hundred for me and my gen2 Impact depending on the day of course.

When I shoot three thru the same hole at 100 it’s because two of them missed the target completely 😀😀 I have on rare occasions had to hold off a little just to be certain it is hitting at the same spot. Never at 100. Maybe some day. My gun is to land tomorrow or the next day. A raged hole would suit me real well

Thanks for the heads up on the manicure critiques I’ll consider that and what I want to use as a pointer.

Bubbler, It was 75yds not 100! If it was 100yds, I'd be framing those targets. I was still pretty happy at 75 with the wind I had today. It was the first time in as long as I can remember that I shot all pellets and no slugs. It was nice to get no fliers and no anomalies like are so common with slugs. You know what I'm talking about!

I was talking to Ken Hicks yesterday about a post where he showed that he was polishing liners and thought it made a difference for the better. I also wondered if he used O-rings. He doesn't use them and even though I totally respect his opinion, I've already tried shooting without them and wanted to try something new. I have used O-rings and tried it without O-rings too, with no major difference that I could see. I'd been thinking about something and wanted to test that theory a little more to see what it would do to accuracy. I put 6, large O-rings between the liner and the shroud, spaced evenly to see what it would do for accuracy. My thought was that more O-rings would secure the liner and shroud, making it act like one uniform, stable unit. I'd liken a liner to a pencil thin barrel and a liner/shroud connected with 6 O-rings like a bull barrel. Just a theory I wanted to test and I really like the results I got, so I'm leaving the O-rings on the liner!

I'll make sure to get a manicure before I post pictures of my thumb nail again, Jeesh! Lol
