Got a oportunity to buy a vulcan 2 in .177. Theese guns are not on sale in any store, where I live, and the previous owner had just test fired the gun, and let it sit for a few month. So it is basically a new rifle. Could not let this oportunity pass. Did clean it, chronied it, and startet shooting it.

There was a couple of hickups first. Even the grouping was nice, the POI wandered a litle, and it was hard to cock. Also the trigger needed some adjustement. I remember my taipan veteran also was set with to long seccond stage (some say it is done that way because of safety), this gun also seemed to be setup the same way. After looking at some youtube videos, I learned how to adjust it. It take some more time to do it, than on the taipan, as it require to also adjust the trigger linkage. But I got it pretty good, with just a tiny creep left. When I had the stock off, I noticed the hammer adjuster screw was loose. It was just the locking screw which needed to be thighten. Chronied the gun again, and set it at around 890, which was the speed it had the first time I chronied it. After that the POI disspeared, the hammer adjuster had probably moved by itself, as I fired the gun previuosly. Also took a look inside to see why it was so hard to cock. It seemed to be the hammer itself, locking up when pulling the loading lever. Took the hammer out, and noticed a tiny bit of dust, on the hammer. Whiped both the hammer, and sliding hole for the hammer clean with a cotton brush, and the cocking went smoothly after that. Guess the sliding surfaces are so tight, on a new gun, that just a tiny bit of dust can make it hard to cock. That will probably dissapear when the hammer get some wear on it. Apart from thouse two initial issues, I really like this gun. It is easy to shoot accurate with, being a litle longer than a short bullpup, and at the same time not to long and cumbesome. And the gun is so far very accurate, without any tuning done.

But I have a new problem now. At least one of my other guns has to be sold, as I can not justify owning to many guns. It probably has to be my wildcat mk2. Not because it is bad, but because I already own several FX guns, and would like to keep some diversity ammong the guns I choose to keep:)

If I didn't just buy a Bobcat I would consider your wild cat. What cal is it?

Congrats on the gun and nice write up

It is a .177. I live in Norway. The wildcat is s special one, as it has a 300cc tube, under a 500mm barrel. A weihrauch moderator just fit at the end of the shroud, without touching the tube. The reason it has a 300cc tube, is because I once managed to ruin the threads on the original tube (user error). Was a costly affair where I bought a completely new tube with 300cc of air instead. One of the FX guns I will keep is my first pcp, also a bobcat. It has nostalgic value for me. The wildcat can do more regarding tuning posiblities, and power, and might be easier to get an accurate tune on, the bobcat is a nice gun once setup properly. I have probably dissmantled the bobcat 5 times over a two year period playing with the regpressure, I will say now it probably shoot as good as the wildcat, and actually is a nice bench shooter also. My impact will also be keeper. That is the one I particular use when shooting slugs:)

I have a Vulcan 2 in 177 , I had Tony import it for me , I think it is only one of two in the USA, It was my first PCP in 177 and it made a believer in me that the 177 caliber is not dead , I call my Vulcan and my Uragan guns in 177 my fly guns ,,,, Shoot an egg on a stick at 48 yards in front of a white paper on a cardboard box .

Then start shooting the flys , Pretty cool I use the 10.34 gr JSB pellets at a tick over 900 FPS, And get about 150 or so shots on a tank, Use the H&N baracuada Match 177 cal at 10.65 gr with the Uragan 177, shooting a tick over 900 FPS with about 500 shots on a tank, Yes that was 500 shots.. I do try and keep the 177 guns at 60 yards and under, Some times I will take a 100 yard long shot, But shooting flys at 48 yards is pretty good in my book, The 177 caliber is not a dying pellet....Just look at them blokes over the pond making crazy shots with a under powered 177...

Very nice gun! Also do love the 177 cal and feel it has its place among all the different calibers. When your shooting, pesting or hunting in open areas its nice to have some of the larger calibers for the extra knock down power if needed. Most of my shooting, pesting is done around my house. Even though in my neighborhood everyone is on one acre I use my 177 Dar or Maverick for most of my pesting needs. Love the gun and congrats!

Where I live anything bigger than .177 cal requires a licence, for every gun, or barrel. A licence may take 2 months to get, and if not an approved aplication are used withing 6 months or so, in theory it is not valid anymore. So by all practical means bying a .22 requires one have to know before applying what gun to get. Bying a used .22, would probably mean the seller has to wait two months, before the buyer has the papers in order. I do have license and barrels for both .25, and .22 for my impact. But I still shoot the .177 guns the most. I do not hunt (hunting with airguns is illegal in Norway, no matter what cal.), so for plinking and target shooting .177 is perfect. .177 gives allot of shot, even on tube guns, and it usually doeas not require me having to bring the fill bottle allong. Just fill the gun before going out, and refill when home again:) I howewer take my impact out once in a while shooting .22 knockouts slugs, which is also fun. The .25 barrel has not been used i a year or so.
