Got my Hill EC3000

Good point JMcC, I should not discount it as a bad compressor, however, a temp fault making it inoperable doesn't make it good either. I'm a huge fan of Hill, I've had a few hand pumps, still have a MK2, and they have been perfect. The compressor was just released and they've recalled some of them for another issue, and now seeing even just a couple of people have this issue is a little alarming. If this is the worst thing that happens to this compressor, I'll be on board to buy one, but it's so new it's hard to say how the reliability is going to be. And, since heat is the real killer for compressors, a temp fault certainly needs to be taken seriously. Good luck and keep us posted, would still love to get one if they prove to be better then some of the other imported compressors.

So far, mine has operated without issue.

The crankcase oil is starting to discolor.

Some pics for comparison...

Cool and glad to hear everyone's is working well for them.

FYI update, HILL, has stepped up to the plate and taken ownership of the defect and are offering to help, repair or replace. Cool! PA informed me to try and resolve my issue through Air Venturi. That was a complete waste of time, I got absolutely nothing from them (AV). A not our problem kind of response. AV just made it onto my never do business with you again list. After AV's bad response PA is now offering to right the situation by having their tech support department look into this specific problem and get back with me soon.

Well I finally got my replacement Compressor and have tried it out for a few times now. Mostly to fill my 13cc tank to 3k psi. It does that pretty good and quickly but still notice the temp runs high. Tried it out on my 88ci (cu was a typo) tank from empty to 4k psi. That was interesting to say the least. Had some issues so I didn't get to track accurate time of fill but it took a good while. Mainly due to it heating up so fast. But as advertised I have to admit the safety high temp shutoff feature worked flawlessly at 74 c and cooled down rapidly to 65 in less then a minute and restarted up again. This happened many times until it reached my set point of 4k psi. For each startup period it would manage to pump at a minimum of 200psi into the tank before the high temp shutdown happen. Oh and a kind of scratch my head moment was I noticed that my compressor won't start showing a pressure increase during the pump stage until it reached 35 c. It will say Pressurizing!! up until that temp is reached. I will contact Hill and see what they might say about that.

I didn't notice the 15 to 20 psi setpoint early shutoff that others reported with their compressors. Mines went to the set point or just 1 psi under and shut off. I did notice that if you don't open the bleed valve and depressurize quickly the pressure slowly bleeds off from your tank/gun and the compressor all at once and it just keeps going until you stop it by using the valve. That's kind of curious to me. But like I said if you open the bleed valve right when the compressor shuts off then there's no real loss in pressure in the tank or gun.

So it does work but like all the other small compressors, heat is the enemy and the temp issue is not being address with a proper internal/external cooling system. Might have to use some kind of after market cooling system to help reduce the heating issue. That's it for now. So happy pumping and shooting!!

Oh I forgot, for those that experience the Temp Sensor Fault error message. Hill recommends the replacement of the temp sensor. They will ship you the replacement part free of charge and give you a link to the video on how to repair this issue or they say they will ship it back to them free and do the repair and ship it back to you.

Serial number 2070-136 checking in. I just got mine Tuesday and have filled my 3 rifles probably about a dozen times total. Fills each very quickly and right to the pressure I set, 200 for my Gamo, 232 for my BSA, and 250 for my Daystate. I also had my retailer test the unit in the store before I picked it up so I could see it in action. Filled a Brocock to 300 bar in less than 2 minutes, and probably does each of my rifles in about a minute. Mine also registered less than an hour use on screen.

Well I have managed to get past the break-in period. Sorted through a couple of issues at first, heating up fast, not switching from pressurizing mode to filling mode a few times. Those required only minor tweaks.

It's running well for the moment. I think I saw someone post in another topic about secondary cooling to help extend the time between temp pause/cool down and filling.

Hey all, just checking in and giving a bit of continued updates. The HILL is still operating good and pump is working well with no issues. I've added a secondary air fan/cooler and it has shown a slight help in controlling heat. Not a miracle situation though. Also placed a secondary inline moisture/oil capture filter. I check it after each fill and has shown NO discoloration. My pumps oil is starting to discolor as others have mentioned, so I will be changing it out before the next use. I will also be drilling tapping threads at the bottom of the reservoir to install a proper drain port and valve. That way when the oil is drained, all the small metal particles and shavings can be drained out instead of resting at the bottom of the reservoir to only be recirculated with the next fresh oil. Also replacing the brass fritted air filter with one that allows better air flow. Minor tweaks to improve performance and longevity.

How are the rest of y'all compressors holding up. Please post your post your updates.
