Got my Hill EC3000

Just an fyi, I got the Hill compressor back in April, however, I had to return it due to recall after 2 weeks of use. It filled my Leshiy in under one minute. One thing interesting, it would always cut off 15 Bar below the set point. In other words, if I set it to cut off at 300 bar, it would shut down at 285 Bar. I would be curious to know if that is still the case for anyone that gets a new one. I know the recall had to do with loose bolts under the control panel, and a software update. Maybe the software update took care of the early shutdown? When I returned mine, I elected to get a refund due to the fact I was on the road at the time and did not want to worry about when it was going to be returned and not being to home to sign for it. I really liked the compressor the two weeks I had it though.

Well I'm now and owner. My Hill showed up today. Truly I can't wait to test it out and totally thrilled to have an air source again since my YH died a very violent death. But...unfortunately I will have to wait because life, work and stuff have prioritized themselves. But again I'm glad to be one who will test this compressor out and report everything I encounter. I only hope at least a few others who have purchased this compressor will give updates as well to help and inform the community and not just post they brought one. Unfortunately my unboxing will have to wait till Saturday. Until then.....

I received mine yesterday, and today have registered an hour on the meter.

There is an hour meter read out upon boot up.

Setup was simple, fill the silicon and crank case lubricants to their appropriate levels.

Takes at least 5mins for the crankcase oil to settle for an accurate read. Instructions says it can take the whole bottle provided, mine only needed 80%.

The dial and activation button interface is fairly simple and intuitive. Confirm fluid levels, set pressure target and press start.

Fills fast, has a temp shut off and cool down sequence when the pump reaches 75°C, it restarts on it own when temp drops to 60°C.

It continues until it reaches target pressure and automatically stops.

There is quite a bit of moisture release on your hand when you bleed the pressure. There is a filter btw the bleed valve and whip, but doesn't look to be easily serviceable or replaceable. This personally doesn't bother me, coming from 20 years of tournament paintball marker design. Im in a dry climate and moisture from compressor fills are not an issue.

One issue, drain plug on the silicon oil reservoir was loose and leaked. A quarter turn with an Allen wrench did the trick.

The power switch initiates a cooling fan, seems prudent to leave it on for a few minutes after each fill.

The pump is extremely quiet and runs at a fairly low tone,

Thats about it, for a quick review...pretty happy so far!

I had 3000 psi left in my 100cu ft Scba, top off to 4400 psi with the Hill.

Didn't time it, but felt like 20mins to half an hour. When it reaxhes 75°C it shuts down until the fan cools it down to 60°C, then restarts the cycle until it reaches the target pressure. Don't think I would be doing this regularly, the Hills forte is quick gun fills. I believe large SCBA fills will definitely shorten the longevity of the compressor.

I've been running mine for a week now and I'm very happy with it. I've been hand pumping for several years and now I'm a convert. Sometimes I'll have time at lunch to shoot and if I hand pump, that takes 10 minutes and leaves me with 10 minutes to shoot. Now it takes a minute!

One disadvantage is that I'm going through pellets faster. I'm going to have to stock up again. 🙂

Well my update isn't exactly like I had wanted it to be. Unpacked, setup and powered up. Right off the bat Temperature Sensor Failure! Powered down, powered back up again did the lubricant check and proceeded to the next step.Unit measurement selection....Temperature Sensor Failure! It did that 2 more times. It's a fringing paper weight. Tried reaching out to Hiil, they don't even show it as one of the pumps they make. Looked over the compressor to locate the sensor. It is located in the worst of places right up against the first stage air line with the Sensor wire zip tied and wrapped under the line with major tension on the wire leading back to the controller box. Also noticed during power up the pump has 1 hour of usage already registered. Anyone else get a unit that had an hour of use already on it?

Curious, did you buy it from Pyramyd? If so, call them and request a refund or choose to have it repaired. They will email you a Fedex return label for a free return. (at least that's how I was treated.) It should not have had any time logged on it when new. Interesting that Hill does not show it as one of their pumps. Good luck and keep us updated.

Unfortunately, I had the same 'Temp Sensor Fault!' error message as JMcC. Received it from PA in early June this year, set it up and then immediately got the error message on startup... tried numerous times, but could not get past that error. I talked with PA Tech Support, and they had me return it. PA was very good about it, and I received my refund within a few weeks.

I'm hoping Hill gets the kinks out of this compressor, and would consider buying it again if it proves reliable. I bought it as a backup to my failing Daystate LC110. The Daystate runs, but it sputters and stops once I get past 280 bar. However, for the last six months, the 280 bar max seems to be working well so far.

Hey ya, well I did purchase it from PA. I did the prepaid option and waited for a month or so. And thanks Bernieorsoz for posting your exact same situation as mines. Seems there is developing a common issue in Quality Control process with a similar failure. Also my apologies for saying it said "Failure" but actually says Fault. And cool you posted your serial number I also took pics of mines for my own records but will post them here as well. My serial number pics show a completely different style plate not sure what gives there but looking more and more like manufacturing rebranding. Pics below show the temp sensor mounted up against the first stage tubing.

A lot of people have high hopes for this compressor to come the rescue of other compressors that keep having issues. If this is a sign of the things to come for this compressor, that's going to suck. I have my eye on one, but I haven't yet pulled out my wallet. Sucks you guys are already having problems. I'll keep my money for now and keep watching what the experience others have with their compressors and hopefully the vendor (or Hill) will get yours straightened out.
