Got my first rifle - first impressions

Today I got my Hatsan 1000S Striker and here is my opinion on it. This is my first rifle, and of course I was exited when it came in the mail today about 2 business days from when I ordered it from field supply with a combination of 9 pellet varieties. Right out of the box I decided to bail all from of feedback because of being too excited and shot it with it’s fiber optic sights freehanded at cross man spinning targets from about ten yards. I see all these people saying “it takes three men and a boy to cock this thing 0 STARS” and yet as a 12yr old I could pretty easily cock it from the first shot, and I’m only 56 inches tall. And I hit my first shot freehanded with H&N Exite Spike pellets (the cheapest pellets). Later today I took the rifle again and shot with my other pellets, trying to sight my “awful” scope in. I mean I feel like the forums has just become a snob group. People say this trigger sucks, that the scope sucks, yet I’m here standing and out of the box without even being broken in hitting 1” targets (at the bullseye) freehanded with fiber optic sights and no support, and that thing is pretty darn heavy I realized. I feel like you have to stop going from $3000 pcps to $100 springers and comparing the two. The scope actually worked perfectly, probably not the best eye relief but at x3 It didn’t shoot all over the place. To say the truth I did it not sight it very well and it consistently shot to the left, but really today I was just having fun. Speaking of which almost all of my pellets (except the Wadcutters and Hollowpoint) went completely through a 3/4” piece of wood. They also split a 1/3” brick in half. And I order all this with my money - well spent :)

Welcome to airgunning! You won't be spending much on girls during your teen years.

In high school I spent money on girls that I should have spent on airguns. Now I spend money on airguns I should spend on more responsible stuff!

Very well written as pointed out by Boscoe. That is a skill you should continue to develop. It will open doors for you the rest of your life.

I would say, use the forum as a guide not a final decision, what works for you is what fits you. You started to have fun and enjoy a fine hobby, starting small and going up is the way to do it as you find the limits of your gun or yourself in my opinion. Then later on, you'll want to push further until you find the right balance while still enjoying the hobby.

Shoot, shoot some more and be safe.
It looks like I need writing lessons too. ;) nicely written post

To be honest my life is based all around Classical Piano, and so there’s no way I will do piano, airgunning, and girls. Also I’m really trying to be very moral in the way of not doing anything with a woman until she is my wife :)

Thanks for the positivity!
