Got my Benjamin Armada - the stock is horrible (pic)

The butt stock on the Armada was the first thing I planned to change as soon as I got the gun out on the box.

However I did not. I found that it did not rattle when I was in position with a sling, and the adjustable length was handy to maintain eye relief when I changed positions. I also like to shorten the butt stock when I put in a gun bag. For most match shooting and shooting ground squirrels it has not let me down.

It is annoying when I shoot from the bench with a rear rest, however, I have taken it to Extreme Benchrest a couple of times and it did just fine.

It is a disaster for shooting offhand. It is too light and doesn’t stay on my shoulder very well. I would like to fix that.

I am not an “AR guy”, but I have found that there is any kind of an AR you could want on the market.

I got the Benjamin Armada(non-Magpul) last year and agree that the included butt stock is not up to par with the rest of the rifle.
But I can see how this is an "accessory" that Crosman knows most shooters will upgrade anyways, and most users have their own preferences for what stock they like.
The included non-Magpul butt-stock rattles a little, a little loose, but it works by any measure.
I was at Cabelas and picked up a Magpul ACS for the Armada, and boy is it nice. It goes on the Armada perfectly and the additional support cheek piece is perfect.

It complements the Armada really well and makes it feel like you have a new upgraded rifle.

My only point is, in all of this, is Benjamin is basically sending out a product that feels like my toddler made it out of Duplo blocks.

Somebody said, “you know what? THIS is the stock we want our customers’ first impression to be formed on.”

Im not saying it should be made of memory foam and curvy tits, I’m just saying damn man, the stock LITERALLY gets up in your customer’s face, don’t put a hard plastic edge there. Put a carpenter level on your cheek - that is how it feels. I compared the two. Not a lot of difference.

Somebody at Benjamin said “this is the way it should be.” It passed through several approval levels, and everybody agreed on it.

And yes, it isnt the end of the world, I still shoot it, and it knocks the poop right out of anything I shoot. I still love the gun. I just scratch my head at their decision. I am an engineer and Im OCD about design decision and approval process. Thats why it bugs me

Regarding sending it back, everything about the rifle is what I want, so sending it back isnt really solving anything - the stock is the problem, not the rifle. ...

AR stocks come in many styles. If I don't get a choice on the gun when bought, then I'm glad that they just include a cheap stock like on the base Armada. I have a couple of Armadas. On the first one, I replaced the stock with a Magpul GEN3 PRS. Not sure what I'll put on the second one, maybe the same.

Easy problem to solve. Buy the stock that you want and switch it yourself. It's easy enough to do. Prices for AR stocks range from $10 to $300+.

Crosman sells a Synthetic stock for $35.00 (plus shipping even on Friday). It's not bad for the price. I know the Armada costs a lot but this is an entry level rifle. Others on this forum have placed a Boyd stock or a Custom Corcoran stock on. Or you can do what I did and make your own. I made these out of Cherry wood.
Really nice work!

What's the obsession with the carpenter level?
It's a Benjamin...the factory pics make it obvious what the stock will be..
I have a .25 marauder with wood stock...because I knew the Armada had the AR style stock and I didn't want that...you have/had choices....send it back and get the wood stock Marauder....js
Hahaha I know right?! I tried it and to me, it felt more like a Box Beam Level. Weird…
