If I had it to do over again, I'd go with a smaller tank and NOT go with the Great White. It's just to damn heavy! I also looked onto a 6K Nitrogen tank and it was to expensive.

Well I filled my Veteran from the nitrogen tank last night. Note to self “tighten the regulator fitting to tank more next time”. Nitrogen blasting out scared the heck out of me...lol. Although the regulator from Joe Brancato was high priced it worked like a charm. Just open the nitro tank (1st gauge shows pressure in tank). Turn the center knob to the pressure you want on the 2nd gauge on the regulator also checking gauge on the gun then close nitro tank and turn center knob counter clockwise to bleed the line. Easy peezy

My initial cost to have my great white filled was $19 now when I take it to be topped off from 3000psi to 4500psi they charge me $9 clean dry air, I only use my personal compressor for my two 90ci and my scba , the great white was imo way over priced but my way of thinking was so were the guns, on my two 90ci and my scba I also use a filter between the bottle and the gun when filling just an added measure, it’s an xtra fill line and filter from a yong Heng it works great that way

I just returned my 6K nitrogen tank as the cost to me tripled out here in west Texas. I loved the nitro however could no longer support it. I bought a Omega Air Charger and so far am very happy.

You got a great price for that 6k Nitrogen set up. As one person on this thread mentioned. Simple, easy, no maintenance. No filters needed, etc.
I used to use Nitrogen, but the price kept going up,so I got a shoebox.

Everyone is talking about how expensive nitrogen is but no ones giving numbers. What can you expect to pay for a tank filled and delivered and what does the requlator system run. Approximate numbers fine. Seems to me several advantages. No noise quick and no concerns about moisture. If we had some approximate numbers it would be helpful for guys considering all of this. A Daystate compressor is what 2k by the time you add an air dryer. How long will they last? N2 seems attractive to me depending on the numbers .

Seems the OP paid aprox. $167.00 to get started, good price. TP3 said $250 to start in his area. Again a pretty good price. I was quoted just over $400.00 to start, $90 yearly lease and $18.00 re-fills and they would need to see the tank strapped to an outside structure.
You just need to call around and see. If you've a friend already dealing with a company ( maybe a welding shop) that will work with you the bussiness price is always better.

I’m in MD you’re in PA which is where Praxair’s main office is located. I lease the tank which is around $20 a month and $120 for a refill and I believe I paid around $150 for the Fill assembly from airtanksforsale.com. If you can get the tank delivered that would be great because those tanks are HEAVY!! Good luck

for me its a $200 deposit ..refundable when no longer needed and $28 for a exchange on a 3' tall tank..only size he had..have not pulled the trigger

I checked and it goes like this for me. $70 a year to lease the tank. $150 a fill (which is trading tanks) BUT they don’t deliver to a residence. Tank weighs 359 lbs. . Regulator runs either $200 or $400 (if you want to fill directly to the gun) SO? Figure two tanks a year it would be $600 to $800 to get set up and about $370 after.
Clearly not a clear winner as compared to a compressor but not a clear looser either.
Advantage is clean dry gas and no maintenance.
I’m going to check another place or two to see if I can get delivery. I can manage the tank but not sure I care to.

Slowing getting back into the game, so I called Airgas to check on pricing before getting another compressor. I couldn’t be happier. $75 yearly lease and $75 fills. No deposit. They prefer not to deliver to residential areas, but they are 3 minutes from work. They said they can put it on a cart and can strap it to my utility trailer.
It is going to be awfully hard to convince myself to pick up another Daystate compressor.

They want $150 for a fill which is trading tanks. If I could get a refill for $75 I'd be sold for sure. I'm probably going to do it. I'll have man handle the tank but I think it's doable.

I've got two tanks and it would seem that filling the tanks would be the way to go. Anything I might be unaware of on that end of it before I make a commitment? Other then the obvious which is do I want to fill directly to the gun I see no reason since I have the tanks.
I guess I'll get my daystate repaired and keep it for a back up in case the nitrogen turns to liquid gold. This stuff gets more expensive by the month.

I’ll respond, not from experience, but from what I have gathered reading some of the older threads on the topic. Many of the guys with the nitrogen tanks said that the $200 getup is fine for filling directly to guns as long as you are careful. I couldn’t find many people speaking of actual problems they had with that method. I guess it depends on how risk adverse you are. Several guys preferred to be safe and get the $400 anyway. I think I would fall in the better safe than sorry camp, or in the full to tank camp. Fuss had a good idea, and he fills to his tanks until he gets down to around 3000 and then fills to the guns.
I think I might go with the $200 route and fill to tank, which can also be used when traveling.

Thanks Smok3y, That information about filling the tanks until you get down to 3000 and then going to the guns made the difference for me. I'll spring for the better set up for that reason. Thanks. It's what you don't know that gets you so that's why I ask.

To be clear, in the case of filling to tanks until getting to the lower pressure, you only need the cheaper set up.

Now here we are five years later. Yearly lease is $126.75 and latest fill was $178.90 back in May. That last fill lasted me about a year. That's rougly $300 a year.
Now lets say I bought a high quality compressor in the $3000 range. What condition will it be in ten years from now? That's sorta the way I look at it?

You are absolutely correct about the annual cost of compressor ownership. My 110 Daystate is two years old. DOA I’ll let everyone know what the repairs cost. Shipping will be $150 at least. Then there is the noise, possible contamination of the guns. Electric to run and just routine maintenance
i figure if it’s $350 or less a year it’s a win for nitrogen even if you have NO repairs. With repairs to the compressor who knows. Want to bet how many compressor are returned to AOA a month to be fixed??? I think they have one guy pretty much dedicated to fixing Daystate compressors and another the omega’s
