Gopro 5 or 6

I know you have limited the field to 5 or 6 but one of the major issues associated with the 5 and 6 is that there is no easy way to change the lens or be able to loosen the lens to allow for a reduction in focus distance. Out of the box the typical GoPro has a minimum focus distance of 12" when the average eye relief through a scope is 3.5". In the past, I have modified Hero 3 or 4 silvers and blacks to allow the lens to be adjusted to achieve a macro focus affect allowing for 3.5" or less of focus distance.

I am not sure there has been a work around to this issue yet but I am certainly interested in reading/hearing any.

The Focal length is easily adjusted on a Hero 4 Black. You simply grip the lens with pliers and break the glue and from that point on you can thread the lens in and out to get the proper eye relief. The first thing I do is mark the lens and the camera in the stock position so i can always get back to stock then I hook a 24 inch monitor to the Hero and focus on the screen to get the crosshairs and target sharp and then using a sharpy i mark the camera case and lens so I can easily get back to that setting if need be. The only thing that the new Heros offer and that is only the 6 is 1080 @ 240 which to be honest would be really sweet.

I may buy a 6 and investigate because I have found difference lenses available which leads me to believe it is a serviceable part. My gears are spinning. I will advise accordingly.
