GOOD Results Now with DonnyFL Extended LDC + Leshiy

I figured this might help some people out that are trying to quiet down their Leshiy using DonnyFL's extended moderator. My initial results with this moderator on my Leshiy (with the 350mm / .25) were okay. I wasn't expecting the world to go silent, but it did take things down a notch from the stock insert.

I had spent a couple of hours playing around with a bunch of different types of foam and felt that I got - some were better than others, and some were just terribly loud. Then, I started thinking about Dynamat, and remembered how one some rubber straps that I got a year or so ago felt similar to what I had remembered Dynamat feeing like. I decided what the hell, let me grab one and cut down a couple of strips and see if they produced better results (this is what I mean in case you do not follow)..

Low and behold, I did a quick test using a couple of pieces on top of the thick felt that DonnyFL sent with the moderator, wrapping them together with some stiff reg felt and poof! The sound level dropped significantly!

It's not as quiet as my Sumo on my p-rod, but my Leshiy now sounds more along the lines of a 1" thick branch breaking in half. I had tested this with the default HST settings with the default 110 bar on my Huma, again 350mm barrel / .25 (with the 25.39gr JSB's - the pellet strike sound level is what it is, obviously).

If you're trying to shave off some decibels with a similar setup, try it out and see. YMMV - what worked best for me was one thicker 1/2" strip and one thinner ~1/4" strip on top of the thick felt, wrapped tightly with thin felt (so the rubber rests on the top side of the extension, with the thicker felt resting underneath them between the moderator holes).

I'll post some photos the next time I dissect it in case anyone wants more visual references.

Interesting. I have both the Extended moderator with the Donny baffles and the adaprter for the Sumo. Buth they are about the same in loudness. Slightly better with the Sumo. But not significantly.
I wish I could get the sound level down to match my Prod. But for some reason the Leshiy is still louder then the Prod shooting at the same FPS.

I'm totally with you! My P-Rod with the Sumo (and Hill depinger) is incredibly quiet. Front yard friendly even.

I'm not sure that I'd want to go down the road of chopping off the moderator and getting a custom barrel, or even drilling it for moderator porting like Ernest showed in his video (I'm curious what the end results of that were btw).

The whole thing about cutting off the existing moderator so you can install a sumo directly was interesting,
What I realized is the reason the Prod is so quiet is because it has the additional air space of the shroud to help reduce the sound.

But! My Leshiy with the DonnyFl adapter still maintains the stock shroud and has the donny air stripper, but I still can't get the sound down as low as the Prod.
I have a few ideas to try and get the sound down to the Prod level.

If you look at the Leshiy in donny's video it appears they drilled the shroud to allow venting.

Amazing find!!! This aligns with Ernest's video, except he drilled inside the muzzle, above the barrel. He never updated his video though with the results of that test :(
