Getting ready to buy fix impact mkII

I don’t mean to seem dumb after 25 years in the army, but I am finally going to buy a rd impact mkII, want a 30 cal but see they now have a 35 cal can someone help me what is the big difference between the two in killing power. So will the 30 cal kill the same size game as a 35 cal or do I need to save up more money. No one on YouTube seems to talk about this kind of stuff. And no one is showing anything about the 25 cal avenger adjustable regulated cheap pcp please don’t mind the spelling I am a soldier of the late 60s. Thanks everyone.

I'd say shot placement is the most vital, also less air consumption/cheaper ammo of a smaller caliber may allow you to practice more and become a better shot. Doesn't matter if you shoot a pebble or a dump truck at a squirrel, a miss is a miss. Since the 35 is super hard to obtain why not go with a 25 or 30, then buy the 35 barrel when its released?

I saw you posted about having trouble getting your air tank refilled, that .35 is going to consume alot of air so keep that in mind. Do you have a compressor?

Me personally I would probably just grab a .35 Airforce Texan, I think the Impacts magazine would be too limiting for the .35. The Texan is cheaper and In Stock.

Ted just released a review of the Avenger

Starting with a top line AG will save you a lot of money, my only advice is, there are several GOOD guns less finicky and less expensive. Take time to look it over. Buy right, once

Remember to budget air! DONT even think about hand pumps!

Well, those are some strong words..

Starting with an FX will cost you a lot of money, because its a damn money pit that has a high cost of entry, and an aftermarket with parts that cost 3x their manufacturing cost. You can easily enter into the pcp game with less than 500$ and that includes a method of filling (chinese hand pump)...

Deeply consider hand pumps, as they are great exercise, and require moisture removal equally as any other form of compression that provides your rifle with sufficient air pressure to shoot lead..that is unless you have major comorbidities or back injuries.

Great advice. I wish someone had educated me on airgun quality/performance some 6 years ago.

+1

I started with Marauders, which got me into the game at the time financially. Now that I have an Impact MKII in 25 and 30 caliber, and have had the FX experience. I would have started out with an FX to begin with. If so, I would have saved enough money not monkeying around with the budget rifles to get them to shoot straight to have purchased an FX. Live and learn. I am super happy I chose an FX product. I can now see why they are touted by many as the Ferrari of airguns. Don't listen to those that don't actually have one.

Then again I also have duplicate FX guns too mostly Cheaper Wildcats and got 2 IMPACTS in 25 caliber because my first one that's out of warranty has MANY MANY MANY rather nerve racking leaks in a lot of different places and they are accurate guns when they work properly as they should. I only bought one in each caliber since theyre expensive. Yo!

It's very unfortunate you are not getting any .35 FX Impact owners to reply. I am one. I am not a ballistic savvy shooter but I had the same question and have at least hydro bottle tested the .35, .30, .25 and .22. I used the 52 floz hard plastic Bolthouse juice bottles. I did not want the soft plastic found in milk type bottles. 50 yards.

.22 and .25 do not get out the back of the 1st bottle. The .25 at least hit the back and broke the plastic. The bottle did not move..

.30 shot through the 1st bottle and entered the 2nd bottle. The 1st bottle did not move, the second pushed back about 1/2 inch.

.35 just entered the 3rd bottle. The first bottle lifted up 6 inches and tossed the bottle at impact the exit down 1 inch. The second bottle lifted 2 inches and fell over. 3rd bottle caught the pellet and remained upright.

My .22 is deadly accurate out to 70 yards. Wind is the biggest factor the pellet world. Bird and rodent hunter. My .25 is my go to Hunter accurate to 125 yards, reliable out to 200. I am not a fan of the .30 for hunting. The range is there. But at distance when the .30 is not accurate its way off. I like airgun hunting for the ability to manage the collateral damage, and the .30 carries a lot of collateral damage. The .35 Power Plenum is everything it should be. I got the .35 for distance and for and power. 300 yards is consistantent. With the .35 I now have 2 Impacts. The .35 is tuned for the .35 and shoots the .25 slugs awesome. My 2nd Impact is tuned to .25 and covers the .22 on setting C.

And now to answer your big question. It is my experience the .35 is not the same gun as the .25 or the .30. The .35 as sold now has parts that allow more air flow. If I were in the market with your questions I would purchase the .35 and get the .25 barrel kit. The hunting will be better with these calibers. Tuning up a .30 may not have the air you need for velocity when shooting .35 at distance. The warning is that the .35 is a beast. You will need more air than you think, and the ammo is 100 shots per tin. The .25 uses half the air and 300 shots per tin. I own the FX Impact for the versatility. My hope is to hunt the .35 with feral pig as game. I hunt Daries. Mostly pest birds and ground squirrel with .25. If it was not for the 100 yard shots I would hunt the .22. Do not get me started on the ammo selection the .22 and .25 the best.

Hunted the Impact .35 with the .25 600mm superior barrel yesterday. Shot .25 haydes, FX 25 grain and FX hybrid slugs at 1100 ftps. The accuracy was amazing. The hybrid hunts so quiet squirrel gives you 3 shots,( at 100yrds you may need 3). Pellets must make more noise no second shots unless they are long. I like the additional power the .35 internals give me. I could not be happier.
