Gauntlet Regulator Problem

You likely increased the piston clearance from the seat not allowing it to regulate the air between the plenum and high pressure side, thus resulting in equalization...did you attempt to remove the .010 washers to see if the issue went away? If the washer stack isn't set right these symptoms will appear, or if you didn't 'set' the regulator back to factory or similar specs with any possible set screws/ pressure adjustments.

Which side of the assembly did you put the washers on?

You backed the reg away from the bottle? You should have it screwed down to the bottle. Backing the threads off is not the solution... if I'm understanding correctly. If so...something is not right. Sounds like the stack is not right.

Jim, if your new at this you may not know the washers are cupped. They're called Belleville washers and act as a spring. If they are arranged the wrong way they won't act as a spring and you'll bypass the reg. If you did back the bonnet away from the bottle more than a quarter turn, i wouldn't operate the rifle until you figure out the problem.

Did you buy it new?
