Gauntlet Air Stripper O-ring

The shroud ID is 0.740"

The OD of the O-ring as installed in the Air Strippers groove is 0.685"

Th Air stripper OD is bigger than the O-ring closer to the 0.740" of the shroud (did not measure the OD major diameter of the air stripper and it is not handy to do so right now)

So, why bother to have the O-ring?

Should the O-ring be a snug fit on the inside of the shroud?

I will have to say yes to that. Go to YouTube and look up hajimoto. He has some great videos on the gauntlet. I just did the one for the shroud and how to help improve it being quieter and this requires the o-ring fit snuggly in the shroud cover. I put a 380 cc bottle on my 25 caliber gauntlet and modified the regulator to 2100 psi and the gun got super loud. I change the o-ring and followed the video and it's much better.

This is actually a timely topic for me and I would laugh about it, but it really isn't funny. When the Gauntlet first started shipping, the oring was the correct size and, apparently from comments, over half of the air strippers arrived cracked. Well I would have to assume, and this is an informed assumption, that the powers that be at Umarex decided that instead of making a better airstripper they would just put on an undersized oring so that the airstripper wouldn't break in shipping, because I have seen two in the past week on new guns that were definately undersized and not the same as I received originally. You are correct, they are shipping with an undersized oring that doesn't fit and won't work as designed. If you have an oring kit (handy to have) just put on one that fits snug in the shroud. I was thinking about posting about this very thing but didn't hear anybody else mentioning it so I didn't think it was to big of a deal. Sorry for being lazy, I should have just posted. That is what these forums are suppose to be about, sharing information, with each other and manufacturers, not patting each other on the back for their latest purchase. At least, that is why I come here. Although I will admit that I get a good laugh watching Bob O shooting multiple starlings in a row landing on the same spot in a matter of seconds.
