Gamo's can shoot

I am guilty of not giving Gamo sufficient credit for making a decent rifle. I think it is my aversion to big box marketing and how much I hated this guns original trigger, but in fairness to Gamo I'd like to fess up. Several years ago I had a slam fire incident where the gun went off while the barrel was open. This caused a bend in the barrel and the gun shot over 12 inches high at 20 yards. I did my research, made a jig and attempted to "unbend" the barrel. I never did get it completely back until I eventually put it back in the jig and then smacked it with a dead blow hammer. It still shoots a tiny bit high but my eye can't find the bend area any longer. The trigger has been replaced with the GRT and I put a Maccari kit in it a while back. I have a Centerpoint 4-16X40AO on it with a Leapers one piece mount. This springer doesn't like the artillery hold and my lapse of concentration regarding this is why the center bull on this target looks like a bad group. It wasn't the pellets or the gun. It was my lapse of concentration. Anyway, this target was just shot at 20 yards with 3 different brands of pellets. These are 10 shot groups. Considering what this gun has been through and how well it still shoots, it and Gamo deserves more respect than I typically give them.

I bought a Gamo Whisper shot it until the consistency fell short because of the trigger. I too changed the trigger with a DeTuna GRT and saw remarkable improvements. The scope that came with the rifle is on the lower end but has survived so far. I again shoot the 177 JSB heavy Beasts in the rifle knowing full well that I may be working the main spring a little too hard but the results are more than satisfactory. I rarely shoot this rifle beyond 35 yards but accuracy is as good enough to keep near the window overlooking my garden and bird feeders. For the money I am satisfied. I will say that I never cock and point it at anything living because it will kill any varmint up to a Raccoon. From the bench my grand son does a nice job with the ten ring when shooting targets. Not a difficult rifle to cock and I never believed in any of the hype of fps as high as 1200. On the chronograph it lays down consistent numbers around 750 with the JSB heavy Beasts.

I got a silent Cat and recently the mainspring broke, the rifle loves beeman pointed pellets, I've gone through 2000 or so pellets. Just ordered a tune up kit with the E3650 mainspring. I have a target in the backyard at 25 yrds and I get done sized groups consistently. I hung a bunch of nickles on a wire and hit em 9 outta 10 shots. I also like to download pics of a busy city scene and play sniper;) For the money its a fun gun.
