GAMO SCOPE MOUNT ACCESSORY

GAMO makes a barrel mount that fits into the 3/8' dovetail grooves on the original barrel. The accessory that they sell has three tightening screws and a recoil hole with 3/8" dovetails that run the length of this accessory. I'm not sure how long it is but I imagine less than 10" and more than 5" - I'm guessing from the picture. GAMO suggested I buy one ($15) as the recoil on my Wildcat Whisper has elongated the recoil pin hole and this would replace the recoil hole that has been deformed. I'm sceptical. Has anyone used this and does it work well?

If you are talking about the recoil reducing rail (RRR) then yes I've used it, still do on my Gamo Swarm, but honestly I can't wrap my mind around how it helps anything.
The best way I have found to dampen the shock/vibration on the scope mount is to put a piece of gasket material between the metal to metal contact areas. Screws don't come loose anymore, and there's no undesirable movement of scope/rings/ ect.

When the sound the gun makes goes from a TWANG to a Thuk, then you know you've made a positive change.

The RRR is different. This is a short piece that attaches to the dovetails on the original barrel.
