FX Wildcat or Crown?

I am still working with the crown but feel it is more accurate than the wildcat presently. The wildcat is also shooting heavies that I tuned up to hunt last month but have not spent the same time as on the crown adjustments. Both guns were aquired a weak apart and I truly don't know the wildcats best accuracy until I test it more. It most certainly shoots under .5" at 50y. I am operating it at 817 average FPS shooting mk2's at 50ftlbs. Last month two coons were taken at 67 yards and dropped in there tracks ,the same day I ranged a piegon for my friend at 84 yards and he split the breast bone. The WC is an Amazing gun is what I'm saying. The crown is more adjustable than the wilcat but should do better at 75-100. We will see.

I found that shooting the JSB 25's at 930 gave me 48 fpe. And the Eunjin 43 at 725 gave me 50.2 fpe. But the best was the H&N Barracuda. It is a little smaller head I think and fit in the barrel a little better. At 31 gr and 866 fps, it gave me the best performance with 51.6 fpe. I thought the heavier pellet would win that hands down. But that barracuda shot very accurately and hit like a hammer.
Packing up the Royale this morning. Kind of excited actually.

"Monkyshine"I very much like the 80y energy a heavy pellet maintains.

That is something I would like to do in the near future. I'd like to set up the chrono near the muzzle and a second at the target and try to get a reading on the carried energy of different pellets. I bet the heavier pellet maintains a higher percentage of its energy to the target.

Ok, off to the post office :)

Ideally, it would be best to have that data (fps at various distances) so that a true BC can be calculated. Having pellet speed at the muzzle, 25, 50, and 75 yards would allow you to calculate a true BC, and feed that into Chairgun. Better yet, feed that information into the multiple BC section of Strelok Pro.

"crusher75060"Well, looks like problem solved. I called and talk to them at AoA and they are making me one heck of a deal and allowing me to send the Royale back for store credit and then shipping me a new WC. That is very nice of them to do that for me since I have shot the gun and it can't be considered NEW anymore. I don't suppose I could ask for more.
And that solves the delima for me. I'll have the WC and in a few months I'll have the Crown. Sounds like a very sweet deal to me.

Ok, so should I put a bi-pod on the WC?

Congrats! I'm happy for you and look forward to hearing how you like the WC! :)
AoA can install an Atlas rail on the WC for you before you even get it. If you have an Atlas bipod already, I'd stick with it. Although they are expensive, they really are nice.
When I got my Wildcat I picked up one of these and mounted a Harris to it. The Bipod partially rested on the stock and partially on the clamp. It worked well enough for me until I swapped my synthetic stock for a Laminate with Atlas rail installed. Now, I have an extra synthetic stock laying around. lol

hi, i am kind of new to PCP rifles (or airguns, for that matter).
i was introduced a few weeks ago to the Royale 500... absolutely fell in love with the gun and the sport.
so much so that i got my self an impact, received a few days ago, still havent shot it yet as trying to figure out what NOT to do.
the point is, the Royale is such a beautiful rifle, how could you let it go :)
keep all three if you can !

p.s. i ordered a crown too, delivery around january here too.

I followed Tominco's video to install the Atlas BT15 rail on my synthetic wildcat stock and it worked great. Drilled the holes with a 9/64 bit and partially tapped them (about 3/8") for 10-24 button-head screws. It's rock solid and I have no doubt it will hold up. I did drill the holes all the way through to the inside of the stock and picked up a couple 10-24 T nuts just in case I need to add them in the future but I can't see it. Thanks Tom!

Same here on the rail install with TNuts, all my rifles are done that way. I pulled heli coils out off my Bobcat stock with a tight can't knob setting and went to TNuts after that. I can see crusher has the Airgun fever like the rest of us. Crusher there is nothing like the ability to hunt at 80 yards behind housing and no one hears a thing. Wait till you start using nite site equipment, then you remove pests day or night.

Yes I admit I have the fever. Since about 2012 when I switched from springers to PCP I've been hooked. I only THOUGHT my springer was accurate. :) I got a Marauder 25 cal and soon I was tuning and learning how to get the most out of what I call "my first love" in airguns.
As far as keeping the Royale, it is a matter of I can only have so many horses in the stable. The Royale is sweet yes, but the Crown is going to be even sweeter. For me, having the WC and the Crown is the perfect 2 gun collection to do everything I want to do.
And for the bi-pod rail, I think I'll have AoA install it for me. I splurged and spent the extra $100 on the WC to get the laminate. I know, not necessary for function, but if I CAN have a beautiful gun, then why not? LOL

Crusher. Like your solution to the problem. AOA is great to work with. That's why I buy all my air guns from them. I bought a Streamline when they first came out and after a month decided it wasn't my cup of tea. They gave me full credit against my Crown although I had to wait for them to show up. I deal with Darren and they have been golden. Been trying to convince myself that I DON'T NEED a Wildcat in 177. I'm slowly loosing that argument. Sylvan

I don't know Sylvan. A 177 WC would be pretty nice... <evil grin> I've had good service from AoA all along. Way on back to when I bought my first PCP. And Darren is a good guy. He has helped me several times.

I'm currently trying to get someone to go along with me to the EBR as spectator. I want to go check it out and see what it is all about and see if I might be competitive in my shooting skills. And I thought while I was there I would go check out AoA since it isn't far from where the EBR is.

I know this is an old thread, but I just came across it...

I had bought the FX Indy from AoA. I believe it was 1-2 weeks later, when I changed my mind and wished I would have bought something else. I don't remember the details, but the bottom line is that they took it back and I got the Bobcat Mk2 instead.

It was really cool from AoA to do that. On the other hand, I do wonder if my Bobcat was someone else's return... if you know what I mean. 😊
