FX Wildcat or Crown?

If the crown was available back when I purchased my Wildcat I would have gone with the crown, hands down! Man, I'm a poet and didn't even know it.....good luck with your decision

I'll tell you what, how about you buy the Crown and then we can swap.

I think you already answered your own question. If you have the patience (unlike me) to fiddle with the crown to get the most out of it then by all means get it but for me I like to grab my gun and shoot. The wildcat is a great bull pup and would do everything you need it to. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a crown or an impact but I would just set it to where it shoots good and shoot it. Not sure I would ever get to see it's full potential.

And that is what I'm thinking. I would probably find the best pellets, then adjust to get it shooting like I want it and then just leave it there. Once it is tuned to shoot well, why change it? I know there are reasons. But they a few for me. I want accurate and quiet. Both have that ability. I already have a Royale 500 and I think the Crown would just be another adjustable Royale. ugh... still thinking about it.

i got a wildcat 2 weeks ago Utah air they tuned it to perfection ,but i also would of got the Crown if i had a choice,,,,,,,for me i want to set it and forget it ,i want it a shooter straight out of the box ,,the the knobs and fiddling with it is for down the road ,,,,a little at a time ,when i learn the gun ,i bet a lot of impacts got messed up cause people couldnt resist fiddling around,,,i do plan on getting both ,because if the Crown is what i think it is ,well it should be the pack leader with all the options ,,ill wait till next summer when they become readily advailable,,and the people i trust have mastered them ,,the Wildcat is a sweet light shoulders perfect ,,balanced perfect ,the nicest looking bullpup on the planet ,,i got the syn 25 ,left hand cheek piece right hand action ,,hits like dropping a keg, ale ,,j/k ,,,,real accurate watch Steves vid on the Wildcat,, buy one ,,,and enter the drawing for the Crown ,,,good luck let us all know ,,,pat

Wildcat.
When you think about the adjustments, the Wildcat is like a walk in the park. The Crown is like going on a journey. From what you've written, I think the Wildcat is a better choice for you. You won't be tempted to adjust and change things nearly as much and you already have reservations about the Crown. Although, I haven't experienced any issues? with mine.
As an owner of both, I will tell you that the Wildcat has been one of my best purchases. The Crown is already among my top shooters and I know it will improve with further tuning.
Also, the wildcat gives you a different platform to try, the bullpup. This is where you'll roll the dice. you might shoot a bullpup well, you might not. Persona;y, I have always struggled with the bullpup design. Edgun, Bobcat, Impact were all excellent shooters that I struggled to shoot accurately. For some reason, I'm able to shoot the Wildcat very well - among my top 3 shooters.
Also, there's probably no wait time with the WC.
Good luck with your purchase! :)

I would love to get the crown, its ability to adjust up/down, change calibers, loudness, looks, it's a purchase in the mix for me, but like other people have said the wildcat comes out of the box ready to go, I've had my .25 for 6 weeks and just can't get enough of it, 48 full power shots, 895-900 fps, 2 shots to wake up the reg, shoulders perfect for me, lightweight and a mechanical gas to listen to, I don't even know where my other guns are anymore.

"Tweeter"I think you already answered your own question. That's where I'm at as well. I'm simply not an 'airgun scientist' nor will I ever be into competitive shooting. I need a crown like I need a Bugati sports car. Not even a little bit.

I don't really mind the adjustments and tuning the gun. In fact I spent lots of enjoyable hours learning my Marauder 25 and tuning to get it right where I want it. However, after all that effort, it has set right where I left it. I don't change the settings. I understand the extra convenience of the adjustments the Crown has. So that is what I am deliberating. Do I need the Crown's adjustments since I already have a new Royale 500 that shoots like a dream? Won't the Crown come preset to shoot at or near it's best, straight from the factory?

Wish I lived near someone who had a WC so I could go shoot it. That would probably convince me one way or the other. And yes this Royale is sweet. Shot .220" groups @30yrds yesterday for about an hour. I never get tired of that :)

crusher. I have both Wildcat and Crown. By far my most favorite gun is the Wildcat. Short, light, accurate and by far the most easy to load mags of any gun I own. Original factory settings, no problems since new and lost count after 20K rounds. The Crown is an absolutely remarkable gun. With the 25 grain the most accurate gun I own. Your comparing a long gun against a bullpup and that's going to be a personal decision. If you leave the crown at it's factory settings, it should be just as reliable grab and go gun as the Wildcat. No different then a Royal 500. The big thing the Crown has is the ability to change all settings and cal with new X-barrel. Even if you never use that feature it will help the gun hold its value should you ever sell it. Personally if I had to chose only one gun it would be the Wildcat. The Wildcat has generated a cult following. Good Luck! Sylvan

Thanks for all the input guys. I appreciate it. Haven't made up my mind yet and I do have a little time before the Crown is available again. AoA is saying my reserved gun won't be here until January. <sad face>

Sylvan, the portion of your message I quoted is the part that I'm waffling over. Since I already have the Royale, so I want another gun "just like it", only adjustable? If I didn't have the Royale, I'd probably buy the WC and the Crown. My Royale is less than a month old. I wonder if AoA would let me trade it for the WC? Then when my Crown comes I could have both!! Hummmmmmm

Well, looks like problem solved. I called and talk to them at AoA and they are making me one heck of a deal and allowing me to send the Royale back for store credit and then shipping me a new WC. That is very nice of them to do that for me since I have shot the gun and it can't be considered NEW anymore. I don't suppose I could ask for more.
And that solves the delima for me. I'll have the WC and in a few months I'll have the Crown. Sounds like a very sweet deal to me.

Ok, so should I put a bi-pod on the WC?

I agree. It was very cool of AoA to made that deal with me. I bought both my Marauders and my Royale from them and they have always taken care of me.

How much should I spend on a bi-pod? Any suggestions on a specific bi-pod? I have an Atlas on the Marauder I'm selling. I guess I could use that one. but it is mounted to the sling bolt. I would need to figure out some way to connect it to the WC.

markT I got the 25. I probably would have gone with the 22 for the shot count, but I just didn't want 3 different stacks of ammo in the closet. I already have a lot of 25 and maybe 30 tins of 177. :) And the 25 WC gets around 45 shots or so. Not so bad. Way better than my non-regulated Gen 1 Marauder 25 ..
