Tuning FX Wildcat MKIII Sniper .30 Accuracy Problem

New purchase in May but no ammo, until now, to shoot consistantly. Groups fair, then drops a shot 4-6 inches, back to fair groups, drops a shot. Stock felt loose, both bolts tight, but noticed Allen heads chewed up. Decided to remove stock, after struggle, found this. Ordered new parts from FX-USA, two bolts and stock attachment fitting. Reported to dealer, waiting on reply.

Cranky,

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Not sure if FX, or somebody else, cross-threaded this but stock was not tight to action. Depending on how I steadied it in gun rest, would have affected accuracy. Hopefully, the parts aren't too expensive, but warranty coverage is best. There was one more bolt, by trigger, with dinged up Allen head but not going to replace. Think someone was doing trigger work, I'm not impressed with the workmanship.

Keyman,

Agreed, this was first evidence of not being "factory fresh." Can't imagine FX would have such a Primitive Pete working for them. I've seen videos of FX factory and seems very professional. Pete used wrong tool, didn't bother to finger-start an easy-to-reach bolt and tightened so hard, forcing cross-threading, that actually bent the bolt. A silver lining is that such a hacker leaves a trail where he's been, and, so far, all else seems fine. Scope rail, moderator mounting threads and other wear spots all showed black, no signs of anodizing being disturbed. I've checked other Allen head bolts and all seem pristine, except for the one near trigger. Still, kind of a disappointment knowing Primitive Pete worked on my gun.
