FX Wildcat MK3 Sniper Question

Remove the stock.

Use the correct sized wrench.

Loosen the regulator gauge and let it de-pressure. Periodically loosening it more and more slowly until the air-cylinder is empty.

**Warning**

Using the air-cylinder’s gauge will pull a vacuum on your AMP regulator and pull it out of position. Causing leakage from the AMP regulators adjustment or vent hole and possibly damaging regulator outer o-rings. Causing more unnecessary work and repairs that could have been avoided by de-pressuring from the regulator’s gauge.

Vent down from the regulators gauge if you want to bypass troublesome issues.

One additional piece of information. You will need a THIN wrench. I have a lot of mechanics tools, but I did not own any wrench that would fit between the air tube and gauge. I had to buy a set of thin wrenches.

Absolutely correct! I had to search Amazon & eBay to find a set of thin enough wrenches 🔧 to fit the small space provided to access the FX gauges for removal or tightening.

Thanks for the replies. What size wrench for the gage?

Indeed for the air tube bleeding from the front side you need that 11mm wrench. BUT like Joe said better to bleed from the reg hole ( back side gauge loosening or brass vent hole older versions ) and then you don’t need an extra small wrench at all as far as the bleeding is concerned . ( lfor further gauge removal you do of course like Catawba Mike says.

Ladwict is right a Crescent wrench will due for the removal of the regulator gauge.

Also, what actually happens when and if a person de-pressures the Wildcat using the air-cylinder’s pressure gauge is the plenum area pressure grows higher than the normally HP air side. When the pressure drops on the fill side or HP side of the air cylinder the plenum pressure (which is still at the given bar or psi set point) pushes the regulator right up the air cylinder. When the breech side o-ring of the AMP regulator reaches and passes the regulator’s vent hole. PSSSSSH!!! LEAK!!! And there goes your o-ring!

Don’t ask how I know this... lol

And then in case your regulator has moved /turned in the tube so that you have to manoevre the adjusment hole back to allign with the drilled hole in the airtube again it is best to only use clockwise movements ( pulling or pushing on an angle with an allen key ) otherwise you have the risk of loosening your regulator cap. Strangely enough Ernest Rowe’s video on the PP install shows bleeding from the front gauge and an other thing he does in the videois clamping the airtube in a vise . Well “don’t do rhis at home” as the airtube is easyly deformed and then.........

I know that Ernest knows exactly that bleeding from the front on a very slow pace is fine and clamping in a vise with the right feel for it can be done but better be safe than sorry and follow the reg hole bleeding method and don’t clamp the airtube to tight in whatever.

When you say thin wrenches how thin are we talking. Would you still happen to have the Amazon link you can share so we can see what we need to have in our tool set?

Thanks...

Now, that my memory returns. Actually I believe that I purchased this Craftsman set from ACE hardware. I looked on eBay and Amazon but after pulling them from my toolbox I remembered that I purchased them from ACE..

They are 4mm thick.

Or you could grind down a cheap set to make it work??
