    Hey guys,

So I have a FX Wildcat MK2 in .30 cal. I have had the gun about 2 months and have put about 2000 pellets through it so far. I had a POI issue and a mag popping out issue which I have fixed. Now I was shooting the gun this past weekend and noticed a crazy change in my POI and the gun sounded different/weak. I don't have a chronograph yet so I used a ballistic calculator and my reticle to get a general range of velocity which is coming in at about 575 FPS. BOGUS! So my gut is telling me that I have an o ring problem somewhere but being new to pcp air guns and my Wildcat being new I don't want to void my warranty. I hate the thought of sending my gun to FX for a 2 month turn around and dealing with shipping etc. What should I do!?!?!?

    FEELING FRUSTRATED.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that right before all this BS started the gun produced some smoke or mist out of the barrel for a few shots for what that is worth…

My gun has a big drop in velocity. Last Friday it was shooting perfectly. Saturday I shot the gun and had a velocity drop from 840 FPS to 575 FPS. Refilled the gun and shot it again and it is way down on power/velocity. I made no changes to the gun whatsoever. All I have done is shoot it.

One simple thing to check…. Make sure the hamming spring retainer is not moving freely. It is/was a common WC problem.

On one of mine the adjusted nut moved as much as a quarter turn with several consecutive shots each. The others were not as bad but still happened.

How would I go about checking the hammer spring movement? I am a total pcp gun newbie, sorry.

Almost anything you do to your gun voids the three year warranty and they can tell if you have messed around with it. The warranty may not be a big deal to you now but it might be something you wish you had someday later on. So you are down to one good option which is to ship it to FXUSA and let Ernest strip it down and rebuild it for you…unless you don't care about voiding your warranty in which case you do have other options.

you beat me. Take the stock off and put the gun in a vice/bags or??? and watch the adjuster nut when you shoot.. Even if you don't see it move, if it spins freely with an allen wrench, it's at least one culprit. (whether you address it or send it off).

Oh Augie that is just fantastic! I will jump in the 'Cat Mobile with my trusty little sidekick "Domino" and rush to the rescue just as soon as I get off the pot! You can see she is a little impatient with me just now…πŸ˜‚

Sounds like maybe the breech "O" ring😁

Domino doesn't think its the breech o-ring…she thinks it is going to require the healing hands of the Fairies and Leprechauns. She is probably in a lot of pain right now…crying out for help…😟

O-rings and other parts… where does one get these parts? I did a couple general searches online and have not had much success πŸ˜•

Send the gun to FX USA. Ernest will diagnose and fix whatever the problem is. Also, invest in a chronograph. You won't regret it.

Just a thought… Noticeable "Mist" suggests you have water in your air.  Are you using an Air Dryer with your Yong Heng compressor ?

It's a fx thing. Idk why they sell gun so expensive but have so many problems with them. Like lame cheap inaccurate gauge, reg creep, cocking pin breaking, probe coming loose or bolt holding probe break off, trigger sticking on 2nd stage and doesn't reset, low speed due to using o rings as bumper stop, leaking air. These are just some problem with fx guns in general. One who spend $1500-2000 on a gun expecting it to be their perfect gun. This isn't the case with fx guns. I do not own a wildcat but my impact drop speed from 900fps to 600fps. It was due to the c3 o ring. Replace it with a better delrin ring and now its shooting back in the 900s. I think in the wildcat there is a c3 ring somewhere. Might be the same issue.

Yes I am using two filters with my compressor. One is has the cotton tube and the other has a combination of cotton tube and desicant beads. I thought the same thing GRITCH but it only did it for 3 or 4 shots. Not sure though. It could still be water I guess. What would the side effects be? I'm certain something internal has failed. I am struggling with the option of sending the gun to FX USA for warranty repairs or trying to figure it out on my own. If I dig into the gun it will void the 3 year warranty and the gun is only like a month old. UGH…

If you call FXUSA they will send you a prepaid shipping tag. Turn around time for my gun was less than 3 weeks from the day I sent it and that was over Christmas.

It may take a few attempts to get through, but be persistent and call FX. They will help you out. First you'll talk to a tech to diagnose the problems and if it's something you can't fix they will honor your warranty. My turn around was 3 weeks after they got it.
