FX Wildcat Makes First Kill on Skunk

I've been on the lookout for these guys for a month now, but I have never been able to stay awake long enough to see one. Well, the other day about 7:30 in the evening I saw a black fur ball in the field next to us. Later that night about 9:00 I spotted it again with my ATN bino's. I had nothing set up to shoot at night, and the only rifle in the house with a zero'ed scope was in the bedroom with my wife, and she was already asleep.
The next day I mounted one of my ATN's on the Rex 9mm and zero'ed it at 30, and shot it at 50 for holdover. Later that evening I set out with my wife Wildcat (yes, her rifle was the only rifle in the house that was set up, and zero'ed, in the house), and I watched the area that I saw the black fur ball. Well, the damn thing came up behind us in the yard behind the house, walked into the tree line, and was never seen again.
The next night (last night) I set out to find it again. This time I knew I would not be able to sit and wait, but I would have to stalk the little critter until I found it. Well, about 9:30, I was walking across my sisters back yard next door, and I saw this one. I didn't have the Rex. I was still carrying the Wildcat from earlier in the evening, but had enough light in the yard to get a shot, and....TWACK!!...there is no mistaking a hit. This rifle sent the 25 cal pellet with laser precision, and the sound let me know that the pellet reached it's target with all the great power.
Unfortunately, this is not the same one I saw the previous two days. So I still have some work to do. My sister will be glad. Here back porch smells like they are getting up there every night.
This picture was taken this morning. When I shot him he was at the edge of the treeline, and I thought he went back in the woods after the shot, but apparently he laid where I shot him. No, I wasn't willing to go looking for him in the dark, nor willing to drag him out of the woods to get a better picture.
Sorry for the novel guys. Just wanted to share.

Nice shot, if the damn things didn't make such a mess of my yard and the neighbors I probably wouldn't have such a desire to shoot them all!!! And no we don't have grubs either but they do love my bird feeder. And how do they know on the nice cool nights when all the windows are open to squirt right around bedtime. For this they get to take the room temperature challenge.

How they know is what my sister wants to know. She has double doors that exit their bedroom onto their back porch, and she would swear those stinkers are aiming their rear ends directly at the door seal. She says it's not strong inside to keep her awake, but the smell has a way of creeping it's way in, but if she opens the door and steps out onto the porch...that's a different story.

Nice shooting. I hate skunks with a passion.

My dogs have been spray multiple times and it wasn't out in the wild, all were right in my yard with one time right at the bottom of the steps to my deck. I have a stack of live traps that would make you think I was a professional trapper and spent thousands of $$$ on a fence around part of my yard, not to keep my dogs in but skunks out when the dogs need to be walked.

Keep up the good work.
