Fx Wildcat .25 Barrel Rate of Twist

Look out for the coming videos from AirArmsHuntingSA on YouTube. He has several FX gun and does a series on airgun ballistics, and in the last episode he said he would get into the topic later. He has connections to FX and can get the technical info that FX, for some reason, doesn't put on there webpage.

Effective twist from a smooth twist does not match the twist applied to the barrel, it is much slower.

i have a25.cal bobcat and the rate of twist is 1-32 left hand twist...

Does anybody know the twist rate of a wildcat .22 in FAC ?

FX should supply that info on their webpage. You can by barrels that fit your needs, smooth twist and smooth twist X, and so on, but no info in twist rate.

bill is right, the pellets skids through the twisted part so it will never gain/match the barrels twist rate. it is like a blowgun

Eventually but not presently! As long as there is a large demand for the Crown that is where production capacity will be spent. (IMHO)

I seem to remember that someone figured it out (Yrrah maybe?) that the twist rate ends up being around 1-40 because the pellets tend to skid through the last bit of rifling on the ST barrels.

Here is a quote from one of his posts. I couldn't find the actual post where he talks about twist rate.

"Generally a dry pull-through every 50 shots should keep it going well; with a thorough clean and dry-out every few hundred shots. 
If finest accuracy is not sought, then just shoot away. Hunting accuracy to 50 or 70 yards will be maintained for many shots but when the time comes, the cleaning will take a little more effort. 
As most would now know, the pellets skid through the couple of inches of rifling at top speed and only pick up some of the rifling twist rate as actual spin rate - so, as you suggest there will be lead smear in the rifling. ...... Kind regards, Harry. "
