FX Wildcat .22

Gentlemen:

Thanks all for your time and kindly input in my post. Some considerations so far, specifically related to FX Wildcat .22:

1 - I know the max pressure is 230BAR. It is written on the side of the Wildcat cocking mechanism as well as I said in my initial post.

2 - I don´t know yet the min pressure. I will chronograph my gun and I will indirectly found out. I am looking forward to do it this weekend. However, I was hoping somebody had this info from FX or other sources. Here is what I have so far and again I thank the members of this forum on their answers:

* Tominco suggests that I shouldn't go below 100BAR. Noted.
* Scoth_MCT suggests 120BAR.
* bent goes to 110BAR min.
* AOA have sent me an answer saying that the min pressure would be between 103BAR (1500PSI) and 83BAR (1200PSI)! By the way this is the most strange answer...
* FX does not answer my emails and I gave up them. Their website does not show either the min pressure.

3 - It appears the regulator is set to 140BAR. There is no way I can check that.

When I am hunting, I just look the gauge to see the min pressure. I am too scatterbrained to count how many shots I did! Also, it is good to know before testing your airgun what is the factory parameter.

I am continuing my investigations...

Thank you very much parallax. This is exactly what I was looking for. It seems 110BAR is the answer regarding the min pressure for the Wildcat .22. I will do my testing on this weekend and will share later my data to compare with yours.

I just have one doubt. In your first chart I see the pressure in uneven numbers instead of rounded ones. Were those numbers your best guess when reading the FX gauge or did you install a more precise gauge for the testing? I like the shot count too. Interesting!

Thanks again. Very pro info!

Gentlemen: I filled my new .22 Wildcat for the first time and shot around 30 pellets. Then, I refiled again to 230BAR and started to chronograph it.

Here are my findings so far:

Pellet: JSB Jumbo Heavy 18.13 grains

1st Magazine: 230BAR to 201BAR (29BAR variation) 8 shots
2nd Magazine: 201BAR to 187BAR (14BAR variation) 16 shots
3rd Magazine: 187BAR to 161BAR (26BAR variation) 24 shots
4th Magazine: 161BAR to 159BAR (2BAR!!! variation) 32 shots
5th Magazine: 159BAR to 143BAR (16BAR variation) 40 shots
6th Magazine: 143BAR to 130BAR (13BAR variation) 48 shots
7th Magazine: 130BAR to 116BAR (14BAR variation) 56 shots
8th Magazine: 116BAR to 108BAR (8BAR variation) 64 shots
Last shot: 108BAR to 100BAR (8BAR variation) 65 shots

For 56 shots or 7 magazines here are the data:
Average velocity 878FPS
Max velocity 892
Min velocity 853
Spread 39.37
Standard deviation 6.99
Energy 31.1 FPE

For 65 shots from 230BAR to 100BAR:
Average velocity 875FPS
Max velocity 892
Min velocity 837
Spread 55,77
Standard deviation 11.13
Energy 30.8 FPE

Some initial conclusions:
1 - I am confused with air usage between magazines. In my mind they should be similar to each other.
2 - I find 7 magazines or 56 shots as the optimum number of shots for my gun. Easy count for hunting.
3 - parallax have done the same and got 11 magazines until 113BAR against mine 8 until 108BAR. I don't understand such variation between the two guns...
4 - Min working pressure for me so would be 116BAR. I will shoot now to get used with the gun, start making groups and understand my reticle. I will repeat the testing in a couple months. I think my gun needs to work and break in.

I loved the Wildcat. It is light, ergonomic and very, very precise even for a mediocre shooter like me.
