Fx transfer port and prope mod.

I dressed up my little machine for years with any kind of tools/jigs/chucks/cutting tools and I was thinking buying that table as well for a once-in-a lifetime ideas whenever I woke up in middle of a night, but too late now. For holding the piece vertically I would miss a height. I will haveto figure something what I have in my drawers...missing a tenth or two only.

Maybe grind a custom boring bar.

Imagine ..

... always test first to get a baseline. That way, you can see if improvements were made.... i wouldn't do any work to the port until you have your new probe installed. That way, you can install the port and seat a pellet with the new probe....

RJ, it toke me good couple hours (moving around things in my basement left and right) to realize that you are right.

This could be a design improvement? (new FX Impact 700 barrel 25 cal, JSB King Heavy 33.94 gr 25 cal pellets, just repeating no to confuse)

- the original FX brass port have a 6.67 mm pellet loading hole and the pellet falls through without any contact between brass and the lead.

- the new updated Huma brass dual slotted port have a smaller 6.49-6.51 mm pellet loading hole, most likely designed smaller for any new (pin) style probe and the pellet skirt need to be pressed in. My best guess would be, the function of this port part is to pre-squeeze the pellet skirt and that will "hold it tight" for entering into the barrel? Either this the case or Huma forgot to finish the hole to a size. I sent Huma an email but do to a situation not expecting answer soon.

Anybody with a 25 call new (dual slot port) Huma piece can confirm what is a size for a pellet loading hole?

wow! This Huma thing isn’t a joke!!

if i got time, I’m gonna measure mine up2. But i got a .30 cal. And also the new type impact that came with PP from Sweden. I know it won’t be as effective as on a .22, but i saw it on their site while buying a digital gauge, and dropped a .30 in the basket. Now I’m curious……

Be careful removing and installing .30 caliber brass inlets because they are easily deformed by squeezing them too hard.

@heavy-impact : Now that I didn’t know! Thx for the tip. First gonna take my barrell out , and compare it with the one that came with the kit from Poland. TBH, That part looks VERY good . Lol, it even looks like there’s nothing done to it. It has an oval hole. I will post a picture with measurements of all 3 (stock, Huma and Polish one)

Got an email from huma, the 25 cal brass port shall be 6.62-6.65 mm. My hole is 6.49-6.51 and most likely wouldn't even be able to load the pellet from the magazin, I don't think the mechanism is strong enough to put that effort squeezing the pellet skirt in the hole.

Fortunately enough I was curious - before shooting a very first pellet - how can I reach there with my thick fingers to load the pellet manually, and this how I noticed.

I know this could be fixed in 2 minutes, but I don't have a lathe, and all my machine shops are closed for a while.

They are sending me a new piece.

How long did it take to come? I ordered on the 8th, still haven't got them.

I ordered mine on the 6th and I still have not received it and I am only 1 hour from bighun. My digital gauges from edgun have been sitting at Pearson airport since 14th. Canada post is not moving much freight.

That’s good news. But I’m pretty sure it will be a “fixed” one they will send you. ( i don’t believe in one bad piece in a batch. They’ll know what to do the coming days …

but it’s a bummer you need to wait again…

I got two from Huma and they are both 6.62 mm.

Order date: 03-05-2020

Krale have a Nice video showing how to install the Dual transfer port if any of you need it.

Thanks, that makes it real easy. You mentioned you hardened the tip of your probe, what material did you use 17-4 or a 400 series stainless? I have access to any type of metal for basically free and want to make a few. Keep up the great work I'm following along

Thanks. I am not sure what material it is i just had some stainless lying around.

...i don’t believe in one bad piece in a batch...…

This must be done on CNC machine manually making these parts would be more cost effective.

My best guess is that the coffee brake or lunch brake came exactly at the moment the next toll shall be loaded on the CNC lathe, when the guy came back from brake he pushed the button for next program. No other way...

The brake time is for refresh the mind....but need to take care of not to loose the sequence. I believe in human errors and I am be forgiving

I did a post not to bash anybody but to help myself out of a loop, I am sure Huma is still a great company producing fantastic products.

If this would be a design error that is a no-no, but I am sure it is a human error and that is forgiving. We all do things....

I have made and used much tighter ports that that, remember that the skirt needs to be pressed into the barrel eventually as well....

Only difference is that it feels harder to seat the pellet because of the leverage difference of the sidelever at a earlier stage of the stroke.

It absolutely can't do any harm, I'd suggest to just try it out before making any assumptions ;)

I chamfered my port a bit to guide the fat skirt king heavies mk1 a bit better, and I had no issues whatsoever. Worked perfectly :)

here ya go on the .30 brass probes. Sorry, but a picture and text will have to do, coz my technical drawings might hypnotize you …
on the picture are 3 different probes. I will Give the measurements of each.

Part A : the Huma one. : Hole = 7.88mm / transfer port =7.20 x 7.50mm (height x width)

Part B : from my brand new .30 impact. Hole = 7.95mm / TP = 7mm-Round

Part C ; from Polish “HP” kit : Hole = 7.95mm. / TP………………6.35 x 8.47mm-Oval (and useless)

So on the .30, the difference between stock and a HUMA is 0.07mm

hope this is helpful to anybody.

Ps: is there anybody who has the measurements of an “older” impact please? Just to compare it with the one I received from Poland (6.35mm…)

Whats wrong with C. Do the pellet drop in the hole?

I would only use the dual port on small calibers.

the hole in the block is 7 mm so going bigger will not make a big difference

Tho oval one(polish) was clearly machined out to 7.95mm, and I cannot even put an o-ring inside, because the groove is gone.

But i wrote it before: i bought a digital test gauge @Huma(the big yellow one) to see how much my reg gauge is off. Because I contacted FX Sweden, regarding their digital gauges, but it’s delayed again for a few months. And i noticed the HUMA probe, and dropped it into the basket. Use it? Not sure, because I’m thinking about selling the impact. Who hasn’t got stuff laying around that they bought and never use…
