FX Slug barrels follow up

I can understand guys getting wrapped up in the YT hype, it grabbed me for a short time.

The question seems to be... Should the guns come out of the box shooting as well as the "YT Pro's"? If you buy a Ford Fusion do you expect to be able to run it on the Nascar circuit?

Could FX tune every gun to perfection from the factory and ship those guns to several parts of the world at different elevations? Probably not. I would guess they found a good baseline that works everywhere and went with that.

As for which pellet/slug will work in which liner, you are better off coming on here and talking to Bob, Chuck, or one of the experienced guys on here. Expecting that information from FX is just going to end in frustration.

This was a follow up from other threads I did not want to derail. I asked the same questions of our in-house experts. They also did not have the answers to the .25 slug barrel questions.

I told them on anther thread I would call other professionals and see what I could come up with. You are right it is very frustrating.

" I can understand guys getting wrapped up in the YT hype " Not me, I would rather base things on first hand knowledge, not hard to get in the airgun world.

" The question seems to be… Should the guns come out of the box shooting as well as the "YT Pro's"? If you buy a Ford Fusion do you expect to be able to run it on the Nascar circuit? " NO! BUT, should your ford be expected to run without issue as delivered, YES!

" Could FX tune every gun to perfection from the factory and ship those guns to several parts of the world at different elevations? " YES! ( for you ruling out a "perfect tune" at 21,000' ) Many/most other manufacturers do this.

" Expecting that information from FX is just going to end in frustration " Correct however poor R&D leads to NO information being available, seems there just trying to push out the door what they read ( online, tee hee) people wanted. Didnt even huben decide to make a suitable ammo for there rig ( or try at least) ? Okay after not too many solids worked with there rig but they are doing something. Perhaps FX will follow suit.

Solids in airguns are a well researched area, shouldn't be any issue to manufacturer as it's all been done before, but YT folk be needing the latest greatest so this "new" barrel manufacture process MUST be the ticket.

IMHO, I think this is very well said.

Respectively,

Eamon

send a great tip...Slugs maybe are more similar between brands than pellets

What was my tip? I can't make sense of that so for sure those weren't my exact words.

Eamon,

I hope the slugs work great for you like they have for me. 5 pigeons yesterday at 117yds, starlings at 100 and a few super close misses at 161yds.

Here's a 100yd target off the hood of my car. Three at the bullseye and two just above. This was with the D-RIG 24gr .22 caliber slugs with the 2S nose....super sleek!!

🙂

The tip was the new Slug brand Bob D-RIG slugs, the words belong to me! a conclusion that I made...I am being a bit cryptic? sorry sometimes I wrote too fast that I don´t understand myself what I am saying :)

"Those light slugs you see for sale will not have as high of a BC of heavier slugs. The heavier slugs of similar design will always have the higher BC and shooting slugs is all about the BC advantage, otherwise why shoot them."

Seems that even the lighter slugs can be the same weight as some of the heaviest diabolo pellets and have much higher BC. That seems to be a good reason to shoot them.
