Looking at the shrouds on my Impact X barrels, they do nothing relative to muting the sound.   They are sealed to the barrels.  I've seen some that actually have strippers…but not on the .25 and .30 barrel shrouds I have.  Is the shroud just for harmonic stiffening?…or maybe to support the barrel from bending?

The shroud DOES help a lot on muting + the moderator. If you see FX moderator is just an empty tube. inside the shroud there is a sort of diffuser that send the air to the shroud and the moderator. Easy test to check that, remove the shroud and attach a moderator 1/2-20 thread direct to the barrel (you can) then you will hear the sound.

Ahhh…so the stripper is hidden up inside the end of the shroud.  I didn't compare the length to notice that.

I noticed the FX cans were empty but can be opened.  Seems like there is opportunity to add some strippers and felt in there to improve their performance.

The strippers are also glued in so they don't come out easy.
