FX Royale regulator adjust, maintenance, and leak fixes.

Great job Tom! learned a bunch! thanks. Don't want to hijack your thread here but if you don't mind mentioning is the royale block the same as the bobcat or is the bobcat block more like the boss? So those of us who might have a bobcat or a boss will have a better idea of what the Royale relationship is in the FX line. Again, great job on the video and explanations.

@FunGun - It's been a long time since I was in front of a Bobcat. I think it's similar enough that some of this will apply.

Royale 400,
Royale 500,
Boss,
Verminator,
Verminator Extreme,
Streamline (minus the regulator),
I'm sure there are more, maybe someone will chime in. The Royale style breech was a base for many rifles in the FX line.

@Menttalist - Oh stop it! Your making me blush! ;) I haven't messed with the brass. So, I'd recommend that if you do move it by accident, just try to move it right back to where it was. But, it should not affect reg pressure setting. That's controlled by the bellvue washer compression.

@21DC - Thank you! The 500 is sold.

Thanks for the compliments and I noticed I got a few more +'s as well. I had been wanting to knock this video out for a long time. It's nice to finally have it done and know that it's going to help some of you out. :)

Tom- now i'm more confident to get the job done in my own one :)
And regarding the brass piece (piston seat) on the reg, according to Gijs (weatherby on the forum) it will affect the reg pressure if you accidentally twist it, it's quite snug in there anyways, so i should't be really worried for that ;)
Cheers, Manuel

P.s. Where have you found the regulator oring sizes? I can't find them in the fx page, and where have you bought them? Thanks in advance

Hey guys:)
Yep, the brass nozzle will change regulator pressure if you turn it.
The brass plunger with the belleville washers holds the delrin seal, and moves back and forth to regulate the pressure.
The brass regulator nose has got a conical shape to form a sealing surface in correlation with the delrin seal of the plunger.
If you back out the regulator nose, the piston has to travel a longer way to form a seal against the reg. nose, hence the belleville are also compressed more, creating more resistance. (=higher reg. pressure)

In fact, increasing spring tension to increase the reg. pressure is about the same as backing out the reg nose, with the difference that in the last case the plunger has gotten a longer stroke. More travel equals more spring tension.
Audrius and huma regulators work according this principle, the pressure is controlled by moving the reg. nose in or out, instead of increasing spring pre-tension.
Turn in is less pressure, turn out is more pressure.

Long story short, the reg. nose should be hand tight, to just let it sit against the ridge in the reg. body. The o-ring will provide the seal. Hold reg. body with a loose grip between your fingers to tighten, when it starts to slip through your fingers, it is tight enough.

O-ring sizes:

2.9X1.78 (1x)
6.07X1.78 (1x)
7.66X1.78 (1x)
11.6X2.4 (2x)

@weatherby - I tried to give you a + but it says I have to spread around some +'s to others before giving you more.
Regardless, Thank you for sharing that excellent information!
Would you mind if I put that info in the description of my video so that the youtube community can see it as well? I'll post credit to you (unless you don't want me to).

No problem Tom, please do☺
About getting credits or plusses, ofcourse it is always nice to see that people appreciate my posts, but it is not my intention. (Guess I'm just too shy to take credit haha.)
Anyway, thanks for the nice words, appreciate it! Great video b.t.w, keep up the good work☺

cheers, Gijs

I will add to it from my notes. The power wheel is not on the parts list. Also the valve seat seal on the parts list is not correct for my Royale. It is 6X1mm as the hand written note indicates.
