Fx Royale barrel issue (SOLVED)

Hi guys, The thing is this, i recently bought a Royale .22, the standard version, the one with power adjuster, and aluminum bottle, but i bought a CF bottle, and my thoughts was tu use the CF bottle, until i ran out of air, and then change to the aluminum bottle; but this will not be possible. The CF bottle is touching the barrel and seriously changing POI compared to the aluminum one, wich isn't touching it. So, when i change bottles it's impossible to know the POI without rezeroing. But that's not all, this happens even when i took off and put pack on the CF bottle, it seems not to leave the barrel allways on the same spot so if you move the CF bottle a little but, the POI shifts.
Any ideas to solve this problem? It is annoying to have a brand new rifle and deal with this things :/

"Menttaliist"Yes, it's the original one. I mean, when when the action is without the stock, the bottle does not touch the barrel, but when i put the stock back on, it pushes the bottle up, making it touch the barrel and changing POI (it only happens with the CF like i said before)

I'm just guessing without measuring it is about .070-.080 clearance. Do you have a wood or synthetic stock? Sounds like perhaps, that it is not cut out enough. Sling stud installed and pushing on it?

I've run into this problem as well. It seems like some of the earlier model Royale stocks weren't designed to accommodate the larger CF bottles. If you're willing to do a little sanding on the inside of the stock I may have a solution for you.
  1. Remove the CF bottle & wrap it in electrical tape (including the valve) this should protect the bottle from scratches & keep dust out of the valve
  2. Take a few sheets of paper & stack them on top of the electrical tape, then tape them in place
  3. Starting with a rough grit sheet of sand paper, wrap it around the bottle (no need to tape it on because you'll want to use the ends)
  4. Slide the bottle with the sand paper forward and backward on the stock until you remove enough material for the bottle to fit
    [/LIST=1]

The idea is that the bottle is the exact shape you want and the more pieces of paper you stack, & the rougher the grit sand paper, the quicker the job. Finish with medium then fine grit & apply oil if desired.

    Hope this helps

  1. Well... i have a laminate stock and that could be a little bit tricky. The idea is great but keeping in mind the stock is a $400 one, i would be nervous doing that

It's the laminate one, no studs on it.
Just not enought cutted

Funny, I just received a new FX400 in Walnut, fresh from Sweden, in November.
The barrel was in contact with the carbon bottle, right out of the box. I was not impressed with the accuracy, I sent it back to the dealer and a month later, the barrel is no longer touching. Accuracy is better, but not up their reputation - separate thread for that.
I don't see that they removed any wood, but if they took their time shaving it down, I wouldn't...

Omg!! I bought it from Hurricane in Sweden so i hope they could help me without cutting the stock. Im not in Sweden so i can't send it back to them. If they knew that was happening and they knew my gun was going to fly to another country, they should prevent it. I'm disapointed with that. The gun was sended with the CF bottle installed and with it touching the barrel, it's impossible they didn't saw it.

It's my first Fx, in fact, it's my first PCP and when i pay $1800 (all my 3 years saves) im not hoping to deal with this kind of things. Come on FX, i'm in a country were i have not oficial dealer, it's near imposible find replacements and when i pay that money, the last thing i thought was to repair the gun as soon as i have it with me. Disappointed with the service.

I think you should be able to move the cone piece toward the muzzle direction just far enough that the CF bottle doesn't hit anymore. You'd have to remove the shroud, which exposes a set screw in the cone piece. Now which version and how easily the shroud will come off is a different story. Some are threaded and require heat to break the Loctite set. I just had mine off to polish the barrel a couple of months ago and it took a lot of heat and what was found after I removed the shroud was some very shallow threads, almost non existent. But there was some wiggle room to adjust the cone some.

I finally was able to solve the issue :). In fact, it was a lot easier than i thought it would be; no sanding inside the stock.
By just putting a little strip of 1mm width aprox. paperboard inside the stock (between the gauge and the filling port slot) the fron part of the action tend to be pulled up, and the stock will be not puching up the bottle because it will not be touching it anymore (now the bottle slides without effort)

I hope this help others persons. Thanks to all!!

"0akhonor"Very Clever! Would you let us know how well it shoots now that the stock is shimmed and not touching the bottle?
Perfect, in fact, today i shot a pigeon at 153yds/140m so i hope that anwer your question :)
And it's not 32fpe (yet), it's shooting at 23fpe with 18.1 jsb's. Pretty impressed with that shot at that distance with that power
